Scent Change was a BAD Decision

The smell is horrible, especially when it goes down the drain and smells rotten (didn't happen with previous scent and doesn't happen now with other detergents...it is *this* scent). Scent absorbs into silicone spatulas and is released into food during cooking (old scent didn't and other detergents don't), which can be smelled and tasted in the food itself regardless of how much clean water is used to rinse them after washing. This is how a company loses loyal customers.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Consumer feedback is vital in helping us improve our products and ensuring that we deliver the best possible experience to our consumers; it’s also instrumental in guiding the Dawn Team as they continue to work on future innovations. In regard to the scent lingering on your dishes and affecting your food, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. We hope this was helpful, but we'd like to learn more about your experience, try to make things right, and tell you more about our Dawn Free & Clear version that offers our lightest scent. HATE NEW SCENT

Hate the new smell - it’s overwhelming and leaves residual on dishes and hands. Also find the new formula to be too slick. It’s far easier to drop the dishes.

Smell gets on food!

This soap with the New scent is terrible. The scent stays on the dishes, no matter how well we rinse them and I can taste it in the food. Everyone in my household thought it was just me being paranoid, but one day someone actually could taste the soap in the food too! I'm scared to try the other products with scent!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worst product I've ever tried!

Original dawn was everyone's favorite, this new "clean" scent is absolutely appalling. I'm so confused why a company with so many loyal consumers would intentionally ruin their company. This dish soap smells like cheap perfume and chemicals. It's so overpowering. The smell literally ruined my expensive yeti coffee cup. You cannot get rid of the smell or the taste. Id rather was my dishes in nothing but hot water than use this product. It make s your dishcloths stink, it gives you a headache, and it simply doesn't make any sense to me why you ruin a perfectly good product to bring in a new product theat no one likes. Definitely not good for business. Nobody wants their dishes to takes like chemicals and perfume......c'mon y'all! Really!?!?...I wouldn't wash my dog with this crap, let alone my dishes. So so disappointed. I wish I could give a -5 star review because, quite frankly, it doesn't even deserve 1 star. It's your job to give consumers a product they can feel good about and you're failing miserably. We all want the original scent back!

The Gross New Scent is like cheap perfume from the dollar store that sticks to the back of your throat. Please get rid of this horrible smell.

New scent a MASSIVE disappointment.

I never write reviews. Ever. But the OG scent change has me MASSIVELY disappointed. It feels ridiculous how disappointed I am over it, but the original scent and effectiveness has kept me a loyal customer for the past 20 years. Even switching back after a trial with Platinum, simply for the original scent. Obviously I'm biased over the OG scent, just as I see a lot the customers are, but it wasn't even switched to something that smells good! Why tweak a great thing that everyone loved?? 😭😭💔💔

Why? Would you change the scent everyone loves?

Please bring back the old scent. The new scent was so strong I had to throw the whole bottle away. The scent lingered on the dishes and made the food taste like perfume. Please switch back. You have lost a customer.

We wouldn't expect the product to impart a scent onto your dishes/food. However, if the soap hasn't been rinsed off completely, or if the dishes have become worn to the point of being porous, it's possible. For dishes that seem to pick up a scent, we suggest making sure not to soak them and instead rinse them immediately.
