Bring Back the OG Dawn: the actual "CLEAN" formula

I've left maybe five reviews for products in my entire life, and this is probably the second negative review ever, but I feel compelled. I also cannot tolerate the "new, clean scent." I hate how it smells, but I also hate how it seems to stick around as a fragrance and residue on the dishes. I also have experienced headaches and it kind of burns my nostrils. You told another customer that they have a unique sensitivity, yet in the five minutes of Googling about your "new scent," I've read reports of others with the same issue. A good majority of your loyal customers choose Dawn soap BECAUSE of the original formula's mild scent, and because of the way it cleans. It WAS a wonderful product that my family used for years as I grew up. I've used it to clean all kinds of things, from dishes to diluted soap for walls, windows, cars, shoes...I accidentally bought a big bottle of Dawn Ultra, tried to use it (I hate wasting things), but it's been demoted to the garage, and I haven't touched it since. I also hate the Ultra smell, it irritates my nose, and seems to leave a lingering smell on hands and surfaces. These two new variations are also very drying to the skin. In a product world of overly smelly, overly chemical products, Dawn was a mainstream staple in my household world that was more budget-friendly, mild, versatile, and effective. I'm surprised your company doesn't understand or want to maintain this audience: decades-long loyal customers. I know I will not be buying anymore Dawn soap, unless the original formula returns. It was my favorite, but there are second favorites that will atleast not offend my nose, skin and health.

We can assure you that our Dawn Original has been thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed, and we hope that you're doing well. As well, a lot of thought goes into our products. This was the first scent change made to our Dawn Original in over 10 years, and it was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers. Your comments will be shared with our team, and we do recommend that you discontinue use of these particular products. It may be helpful to know that the Dawn Ultra you purchased is the same as our Dawn Original, and would feature the same updated the scent. We do have a variety of scents available, and we suggest giving our Dawn Free & Clear a try, as it features our lightest scent. We also offer our Dawn Free & Clear Fragrance-Free. So that we can learn more and gather some additional details for our Safety Team, please give us a call at (800) 725-3296 when you can.

Terrible new “original” scent

The new scent triggers my asthma - I can’t use it and I’ve asked friends and family to stop, as well. We will have to find a new dish soap. Please bring back the old Dawn for those of us who can’t tolerate the new formulation.

Don't like the new scent

I have been using Dawn for over 30 years. I do not like the new scent in the original dawn at all. It is too much like cheap perfume, it gives me a headache and my hands are very dry after I use it. I didn't have that problem before. I wish you would have kept the original scent. Maybe it's time for me to move on.

Another Thumbs Down For The New Scent- Very Bad

The new scent is over powering. It lingers on clean dishes and over powers food. It stays on your hands like a bad perfume. I’ve been using Dawn for 20 years and will definitely have to switch to a more neutral clean scent like Palmolive unless the original scent returns. Please bring back the classic original scent.

New Scent is Terrible

The original Dawn scent was perfect the way it was. It was one of the main reasons I liked Dawn dish soap. I can't understand why it was changed. I realize that many have already expressed their disappointment and what I have to say probably won't change anything either, but I would like to ask you change it back. The new scent is so strong and unpleasant and like others have said it is difficult to get the taste of it off my dishes. I don't plan to buy again unless it's changed.

Whenever we make changes, we do extensive testing to get the scent just right, but it should never stay behind on your dishes. However, if dishes are porous, so very old, cast iron, or plastic, it can absorb the scent. With these dishes, please rinse off right away. Do not let them soak. Terrible new scent

I have exclusively used Dawn dish soap for over 30 years, and loved the new EZ Squeeze bottle. UNTIL... I purchased my most recent bottle. I did not notice the "new clean scent" on the label, but I absolutely noticed it when I opened and used it. The smell is TERRIBLE! I do not want a floral smell when washing my dishes. And as others have commented, the smell lingers. And I do not have porous dishes. Please go back to the old formula. I will not purchase Dawn again until you do so. Very disappointed.

Disappointed!

I bought dawn dishwashing soap and didn’t realize it was the new scent until I started washing dishes and the smell was making me sick. It’s terrible, why would you change it? I’ve been buying dawn soap for 30 + years, I will have to see what other dishwashing products are available without the disgusting perfume smell.
