Horrible new scent!

I have used Dawn dishwashing liquid for years, but I cannot stand the new scent. I tried but I ended up giving my bottle away. On to a different brand until Dawn goes back to the original scent.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Horrible new smell!

The Dawn new fresh scent literally smells like very strong laundry detergent. I’ve been a loyal Dawn customer for many years and this scent really bothered my allergies and has an absolutely sickening smell. I noticed it does not clean as well now as it did previously. Why fix something that isn’t broken? And yes, I’ve tried the green apple and orange dawn, the platinum dawn and a couple other brands, but nothing compares to Dawn original scent. Thanks for giving me the hassle of wasting money on unsuitable replacements. I guess the hunt continues for a better option. Please please please consider manufacturing the original scent once again.

We understand how frustrating it can be when a product you love changes, and though the fragrance change for Dawn Ultra Original was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers, we respect your experience and apologize. At this time, there are no plans to reintroduce the old Dawn scent. Because there was no change to the cleaning formula, we'd like to talk more with you about that and make sure you're feeling alright, after you stop using this bottle of soap. Hate this new scent

This is the only dish soap I have ever used and I'm going to have to find a new dish soap because I can't stand the smell of this new "clean" scent. And the smell lingers on dishes. Nasty.

In regard to the scent lingering and affecting your taste, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. We hope this was helpful, but we'd like to learn more about your experience, try to make things right, and tell you more about our Dawn Free & Clear version that offers our lightest scent. It's completely unusable since you changed the formula. The scent is so powerful even rinsing in boiling water and leaving plasticwear out for days doesn't help get rid of the scent and it just makes me think if the scent is there what sort of toxins are being left behind on my dishes? I can't buy this until it's changed back.

Why change a cult classic?!

I've been using dawn for way over two decades. Not knowing of the change, I bought a bottle, fill up my kitchen dispenser, and actually gagged. Seriously. I rinsed a water glass over and over and over just to get the god awful scent off. I could handle the additional water in the new formula - but not (what I call) "Fabreze Acid Rain Original."

We can assure you that our Dawn Original has been thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed, and we also put a lot of thought into our products. We updated the scent back in February 2024 after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers. We'd also like to mention that the last change we made to the formula, which occurred earlier this year, was to help with improved grease cleaning as well as malodor reduction. Your comments will be shared with our team, and we do recommend that you discontinue use of this particular product, if you haven't already. We suggest giving another Dawn version a try, and it may be helpful to know that our Dawn Free & Clear features our lightest scent. We also offer our Dawn Free & Clear Fragrance-Free. Another thumbs down for the new scent

I can't think of the last time I used a dish soap other than Dawn. Unfortunately, I'll now be looking for a new product. Like most of the posts here, I cannot stand the new scent. Not only do I not like the fragrance, it actually gives me a headache. I have no idea what led the brand team to make the change.
Also - very strange that most of the reviews are negative - except from the ones from influenster.com, which are obviously being used to skew the reviews. Sad.
