New Smell Is Awful

The new smell is awful and I’m so disappointed. The smell is cloying and the odor and taste linger on dishes. Please please bring back the original scent!

We do have many quality checks in place to ensure that you can use our products with ease, and we can assure you that our Dawn Original has been thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed. We also put a lot of thought into creating features that we think you'll like. We wouldn't expect Dawn to impart the product scent/taste into your dishes. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it's possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous, and we suggest that you don't soak these items and instead rinse them off immediately. Your comments will be shared with our team, and we do recommend that you discontinue use of this particular product, if you haven't already. For a lighter scent, we suggest checking out our Dawn Free & Clear. We also offer our Dawn Free & Clear Fragrance-Free. Why? Would you change the scent everyone loves?

Please bring back the old scent. The new scent was so strong I had to throw the whole bottle away. The scent lingered on the dishes and made the food taste like perfume. Please switch back. You have lost a customer.

We wouldn't expect the product to impart a scent onto your dishes/food. However, if the soap hasn't been rinsed off completely, or if the dishes have become worn to the point of being porous, it's possible. For dishes that seem to pick up a scent, we suggest making sure not to soak them and instead rinse them immediately. As well, a lot of thought goes into our products, and this fragrance change was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers. Scent Change was a BAD Decision

The smell is horrible, especially when it goes down the drain and smells rotten (didn't happen with previous scent and doesn't happen now with other detergents...it is *this* scent). Scent absorbs into silicone spatulas and is released into food during cooking (old scent didn't and other detergents don't), which can be smelled and tasted in the food itself regardless of how much clean water is used to rinse them after washing. This is how a company loses loyal customers.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

In regard to the scent lingering on your dishes and affecting your food, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. HATE NEW SCENT

Hate the new smell - it’s overwhelming and leaves residual on dishes and hands. Also find the new formula to be too slick. It’s far easier to drop the dishes.

Horrible new scent

Horrible scent in new Dawn. Makes me so allergic, And worse is that it is so strong, especially for dishes etc that are for food. What were you thinking P@G? Yuck.

BRING BACK THE OG SCENT PLEASEEEE

The soap works like how it did before, but honestly I want to find another dish soap because this new smell is genuinely nauseating. I was washing the dishes like a nice, thoughtful little daughter, and I realized it smelled weird. It's got a kind of weird floral/fruity/chemically scent?? I don't know, but it was so nasty, I'm not joking, my stomach was starting to hurt from the smell. Anyways, PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU, JUST BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL SCENT, THIS NEW ONE SMELLS SO BAD.
