New clean scent is terrible

The new clean scent is terrible, and causing headaches. We have used Dawn for decades and loved them. Unfortunately after reaching out, they do not plan to bring the original Dawn soap back so we will have to use another brand from now on.

Safety is our top priority, Tara, and all bottles of Dawn Ultra with the recently updated Original Scent are thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed. If you’re not able to use this dish soap, it may help to know that we’ve recently introduced an unscented version of Dawn that may become your new favorite. We’d be happy to help you give that a go, but first, based on what you've shared, we do recommend discontinuing use of your current bottle. Put it in a safe spot, in case we need you to return it to us. Then, give us a call for further assistance. We’re here any Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM, EST. Our number is 1 (800) 725-3296.

Terrible Smell

I have used Dawn for years and loved it. Just used the new Clean Scent and it is horrid. I found the smell to be nauseating. Why would anyone want to wash dishes in perfume?
I will be searching for the Original Scent and if not changed will be looking for a replacement. What a waste of money.

Dawn is Ruined

The new smell is AWFUL. My mom only used Dawn growing up because it worked the best AND was the only dish soap that didn’t exacerbate her eczema. As an adult, I’ve been loyal to the brand myself for almost 20 years. The new scent is horrendous - it smells like Febreze, which is gross AND the single worst trigger for my own allergies. Plus the new fragrance clings to plastics & transfers into my food I can’t believe I have to find a new soap to use after all this time, such a bummer.

I tried to by the original scent Dawn dish soap to wash baby bottles and I can’t find it anywhere. The new fresh scent has way too much perfume and you can smell it on the bottles even after they’ve been used. Will not be buying again!

Consumer feedback is vital in helping us improve our products and ensuring that we deliver the best possible experience to our consumers; it’s also instrumental in guiding the Dawn Team as they continue to work on future innovations. In regard to the scent lingering on your baby bottles, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. While we hope this was helpful, we'd like to learn more, try to make things right, and let you know about our new Dawn E-Z Squeeze Free & Clear Fragrance-Free Dishwashing Soap that we think you might love.
