New scent

The new scent is horrible and the worst part is you can’t wash it out of your dishes. My grand-babies bottles are so bad because you rinse and rinse and somehow it never gets the smell out. Please bring back that wonderful low smelling scent that easily rinsed away. The new smell honestly gives me a headache.

We're so sorry you had this experience with the new scent of Dawn, and we hope you're feeling better, Robin. Please know your and your family's safety is our top priority, and based on what you shared, we recommend discontinuing the use of this Dawn. Follow these steps to remove the scent:
1. Soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added to it or 2. Run them through the dishwasher (assuming the dishes are dishwasher-safe). If you choose to wash the dishes in the dishwasher, pour some vinegar into the bottom and some vinegar directly into the dispenser. You can also put a cup of vinegar upright on the top rack of the dishwasher so that it gets knocked over and distributed during the wash. It may take a couple of cycles, but the smell will come out.

New “Original” Scent is Unbearable

The new scent is overpowering and anything but “clean.” Agree with other raters that the formula is also thinner and less effective of doing what Dawn is actually known for - cutting grease! I made the mistake of buying the extra large bottle (as I have for years), so will have to find a safe way to dispose of this unbearably scented product.

New scent will change my loyalty

I am so glad I’m not the only one finding the new scent repulsive. I also felt like my bottle didn’t last near as long. Found a bottle of the old scent and can definitely tell a difference in scrubbing. I will be looking for a new dish soap unfortunately.

I recently purchased the Dawn Ultra with the new clean scent and I can't even use it. It smells horrible and gives me a headache. One of the main reasons I used Dawn is because I loved the original scent. Why get rid of a good thing?

Dish soap shouldn't smell like a stripper. What where you thinking, who is in charge of your R&D, they completely missed the mark unless they were going for 2am in a Bangkok brothel, and they nailed it!!

New Scent is Awful

The new scent is so disappointing. Not only is the smell unpleasant, it lingers on my dishes and affects the taste of my food. I had to soak my dishes in baking soda to get the scent out. Please change it back if you can!

Our products are tested to be safe when used as directed, and your safety is our highest priority. We can understand your disappointment at having this experience, and wouldn't expect Dawn to impart a taste into food. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, this is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous, and items made of cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. For best results, we recommend that you don't soak porous items, but wash immediately and rinse thoroughly. I hate the new clean scent please bring back the original scent I grew up with and have continued to ise for 45 years!
