Excellent experience!

One day me and my girlfriend walked inside the LEGO store and saw the staff there put this castle on its backside and put the train with it together, the idea was so amazing so we bought the two sets together. The building process was excellent and with a little imagination. We put them two together and has a XBOX as the base , haha! Before we thought one day we would buy the big Hogwarts Castle, but after finishing these two, with more details, we would definitely recommend this one if you don't have much room or already have other castles such as Disney like us!

Great set, except for that Basilisk yuck

A little pricey on a parts basis, but amazingly well done set... Except that Basilisk is pretty terrible. Just some extra basic parts could have made that thing amazing as well, as modified in the picture. I recommend a quick trip to the pick a brick wall, as all the parts used were readily available there.

The Great Hall Set
on July 24, 2020

The Great Hall set was the first Harry Potter Lego Set that I built, and it was what really got me into LEGO. I got it for my Birthday. Although I wish there were more boats, I really like the building and how it doesn’t look that modern.

Just OK

This set was really disappointing. The Basalisk is odd both in construction and there is nowhere to put it. Susan bones is included instead of Ginny Weasly. Fawkes is totally hidden by the mirror of Erasid and the mirror itself has no place for anyone to stand in front of it and is on the top of a tower. Also, when combined with the whomping willow set, the stairs don't open because they collide with a lantern. Just not well designed at all. The big castle is so much better.

Such a solid rendition!

There are a lot of things to like about this set. The new square grates for the windows look wonderful, the overall facade of the Great Hall is nicely re-created, the interior of the Great Hall itself has quite a lot of detail, the included minifigure selection is quite substantial, (Hagrid and Quirrel are especially standouts), the accessories are nice (hedwig, scabbers, fawkes, sorting hat, etc), I could go on.
However, a few minor things detract from this set in my opinion. Including Susan Bones to give a non-gryffindor or slytherin character made sense to me, but why no Ravenclaw love?!?! Luna in a normal uniform would have been great! Also, the Basilisk build was kind of frivolous. I think my biggest complaint though is that you only get one sticker per house! They included SIX different panels for the mirror of erised and an articulate-but-poorly-screen-accurate basilisk, but couldn't include two extra flag pieces and four additional stickers? I guess you have to buy two sets to do a house cup!

Worst Lego experience EVER
on August 18, 2018

I am a 100% Lego fan and a 18 years Harry Potter Fan. When Lego announced the release of new hp series I was so excited. The purchase, however, turns out to be very disappointing. There are AT LEAST 3 pieces missing from the set, including a huge board (used to build the ceiling of the hall) and two essential parts to finish the set. I said AT LEAST because I could not continue to build due to these missing pieces so I don't know if there are more bad news waiting for me. When I found the first two missed parts, I used the official website to order them, and did not want to give a bad review because I knew, this could happen. However, the order was shipped a week ago and because there is no tracking info I do not even know if they have arrived yet (my building is still under construction thus I could not receive packages from USPS, need to go and fetch by myself). Also, when finally took the courage and continue to build the tower, I found yet the third missing parts, preventing me from finishing the tower. This is simply sooooooo disappointing. All the fun has been divested and I could just throw this away. I hope someone could read my review and take it seriously that Lego is not doing their job right.
Thanks.

Response from LEGOBy EmilyCustomer ServiceAugust 21, 2018
Oh no! It’s very rare for a LEGO® set to be missing pieces. Usually you’ll find them stuck in the packaging, used in place of a similar piece, or hiding somewhere near your building area.

If you’ve checked all over and the parts haven't appeared, don’t worry! It’s super easy to request a replacement. Just go to LEGO.com/Service and choose the “Bricks & Pieces” option to get started.
