Wizarding World is Back!!!
on July 20, 2018

First of all, I am VERY excited that Harry Potter is back and not to mention very much improved!!! The old sets were great and all (because it was about Harry Potter) but the elements and figures were a little bit of a letdown. I’m happy to say though (as a Master Builder) that after buying Hogwarts Great Hall, the Whomping Willow, the Quidditch Match, Aragog’s Lair, and Hogwarts Express, I can say that these sets are MUCH improved from there “ancestor sets” and I am enjoying every minute I get with these sets. The possibilities are ENDLESS!!!
Second of all, THIS set is great for SOOOOOO many reasons. Because there are so many, I’ll hit up on the highlights:
1. Figures are AMAZING!!! I have never bought a set with better figures than this set. The detail on everything from the faces to the legs is great. And also, if you turn around Professor Quirrel’s head you actually see (Spoiler Alert) Voldemort’s face like in the Book Series!
2. The Elements From the doors into the hall, to the Ski Poles used as spires on top of the Castle (nice touch LEGO;)) the elements are great.
3. The Size GREAT size! For only 800 pieces, this sets seems SO much bigger than your average 800 piece set. I guess that’s why it’s $20 more expensive than other sets (based on LEGO Pricing Team standards) with th same size but I would definitely buy it again.
The only downsides to this set that I can find are these:
1. Repetitive Windows. You have to make almost 40 of the old Castle Theme arched window panes.
2. The Stickers As a collector, I understand that LEGO has to use stickers on sets like City and Juniors and even Marvel, but for sets like these! Really!! I expect more for Collectors sets that have come out of the vault like this.
Other than that this set is positively phenomenal! Can’t wait for Waves to come.

Overall a good set-loved the supply of minifigures
on September 4, 2020

I'm pleased with this set's minifigures--especially Quirrell. If you're looking for a set that's great for play, it's not this one. The interior is VERY cramped, and whenever I try to move or play with the minifigures INSIDE the castle, I keep knocking over the candles and the "food." The candles are nice and very iconic, but I keep bumping them around. Overall the set feels strong and, compared to other sets, actually feels big from the OUTSIDE but the inside feels cramped. It's nearly impossible to reach the black broom without knocking over something.

I Got my Hogwarts Letter!

At least minifigure me did; the inclusion of a Hufflepuff was amazing as I am a Hufflepuff and with one of my extra Lego hairpieces I could add myself to the set =)
But I am so happy to see LEGO returning to the Harry Potter series; I unfortunately missed out on the Lego series the last time around, but am so grateful I can get it now!
The details in the Great Hall look amazing, I especially love the windows and the floating candles are a nice touch. The inclusion of Quirrell and the Basilisk are a little disjointed as there is no place in the castle itself to put them, but I can see setting up a little scene outside the castle to play.
I also love the inclusion of Hagrid and one of the rowboats - maybe we will see a Hagrid's hut again in the future?
Overall really enjoyed revisiting one of my favorite franchises with my favorite toy series! Thanks!

Harry Potter is back and better than ever.

Overall a fantastic set. Lots of great details and plenty of minifigs for the 'play' aspect. It also looks great as a display model (it's currently on my bookcase). Only minor annoyance was that the pier kept falling off every time I moved the set... Otherwise the set makes a fine addition to my collection (oops, wrong franchise...) and I'm looking forward to my next Lego Harry Potter purchase!

Some of LEGO's Finest Work
on July 5, 2018

From the moment I saw the first preview images this set has been number one on my list. I was lucky enough to get it on release day and I have to say, it's honestly a masterpiece. Even though you can connect it to the Whomping Willow set (and it seems they might have left room for additional sets to connect in the future) this model is incredibly detailed and charming on its own. From the Mirror of Erised to the candles floating overhead in the Great Hall, this set is literally jam-packed with delightful details from the Wizarding World. I'd say it's an absolute MUST for any Harry Potter fan, and an awesome build that's fun to play with and display even if you aren't one.

My second favorite of ALL LEGO sets!

The Hobbit house will always be my MOST favorite but the Great Hall runs a close second. This is an AWESOME set! LOVE the ghost - we added thread so he hangs over the tables. There are new LEGO pieces as well as outstanding details on the outside of the castle. My husband and I love the Harry Potter movies and go to Universal Studios just to visit Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. My favorite ride is HP& the Wizarding World which goes through the castle and ends in the Great Hall. I plan to order the Whomping Willow to add to the Hall.
