Great Set, Alot of fun.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this set a long time ago about 3 years from now but just reviewed it as I wanted to review it, This set is an amazing set that shows the best part of Hogwarts being the dining hall. Even though the set is made for kids it does not look as it and it is a amazing shelve display. If you want this set look no further as it is a truly magical experience.

Very impressed

This was the first ever Lego set I have ever purchased and I am very happy. It took me just over 4 hours to build. The instructions were very clear and easy to understand.
I am very impressed with the detail of the set and love the reversible pieces you can switch.
Can’t wait to start saving and collecting more sets!

House of Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw

Great to see LEGO Finally release some lego with the colours of the other 2 houses the reversible flags are a great touch to this build.
PROS:
One of a kind "The Sorting Hat" amazing design.
Favourite Character: Nearly Headless Nick
Best section to build would be The Mirror of Erised which you can change what you see in it overall a fun build with the new shorter legs for the students being a first in LEGO History for any collector.
CONS: All though this set is a great build someone clearly overlooked the section when the two sets connect as the picture will show the moving stairs no longer line up with the building due to the light.

A beautiful set with lots of detail

The Great Hall set is the latest in line of Harry Potter sets I have built, and it certainly delivers on quality and detail. It comes with an abundance of minifgures, of which I found Neraly Headless Nick most impressive. Professor Quirrell minifigure also comes with a "Voldemort" face on the other side, which is a nice touch, and I found Professor McGonagall's facial expressions amusing. The children minifigures have short legs, but not moveable as they do in the Minifigure bag collection.
The building experience is very good, it was particularly satisfying to build the exterior of the Great Hall. The finished result is beautiful. Other details I have enjoyed were the moving stairs, the house banners that can be changed, and the Mirror of Erised, which can be made to show any of the four scenes that appear in the book. This set was clearly designed by someone who not only had talent, but also a love for the Harry Potter story, as they've gone to great lengths to provide lovely detail that makes this set so enjoyable.
On the negative side, I found Hagrid's minifigure difficult to place anywhere on the inside due to lack of space. It is also impossible to put anyone in a room with the Mirror of Erised, because of where it's placed and can't fit in any of the other rooms. I would have loved a flat brick on top of the fireplace just to keep it together, as without it it feels a bit precarious. I appreciate that the floating candles are hard to translate into LEGO, so the end solution with two black beams ended up looking a bit clunky, and the exposed pin in the centre doesn't look as great - maybe even transparent beams would help? The tower roof doesn't look as fantastic with the sloped brick leaning against the smooth round brick. But these are just little things among a lot of positives.
Overall it's a great set that I am looking forward to building again, and pairing up with more HP sets.

I was really thrilled to see Harry come back , I watched constantly for the release date . My son and I built this entire set in one day . It was great, I hope to see more of Harry Potter. I'm on the look out for the Hogwarts Castle 71043 , looking forward to my son and I to build that one. I love the look of these sets, a lot of detail to every room .

As a huge HP fan I really enjoyed building this set. The details are everything and Lego didn't let me down. I do wish that I could display all of the House Flags and that Hermione's cat was included. Overall, this was a great set and I look forward to building my other sets.

Everything I Hoped For
on July 23, 2018

My 9-year-old and I built this set on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It is an excellent set, full of detail, down to spiral staircase and Scabbers the rat. This set combines elements from the first two books - the mirror of Erised and Professor Quirrell, but also the basilisk.
The speed at which this set went together was faster than when we built the smaller forest set. The difference was that I was not helping this time.
The instructions are clear for the most part, and there were only two occasions in which we had to invoke the Great Spirit of Lego that looms in the basement playing video games. (At least I think he is a spirit. He is pretty pale). He came up and talked us through where we were confused.
I really like Lego sets that are based on movies because my son is on the spectrum, and he prefers structure. The instructions provide it. He can follow along, step by step, and create something the way it is supposed to be. It is also a gentle lesson in natural consequences. If the steps are not followed, the set doesn't come together the way it is supposed to
If you're looking for a set that has a lot of playability, this set isn't it. There is not a lot to DO with it - few moving pieces. But the detail and the mini figures make it an excellent addition for the collector who needs to bask in all things Harry Potter.
I do hope Lego makes more of these sets in coming years. I need them all!

Best Hogwarts set
on July 19, 2018

I had missed out on getting any Hogwarts sets from 2010 and before, but I wasn't too sad. If I had missed out on this Great Hall, then I would be disapointed.
I am so glad that LEGO has gotten rid of the sand green turrets and replaced them with grey, it looks much better. The minifigures have finally been updated! Yes! All of them now have perfect hair pieces! Hagrid is amazing, but not tall enough. I hope that if they make another Hagrid's hut set, they will make another minifigure for Hagrid, to keep this one exclusive.
This set is worth the price, your time, and would also make a super memorable gift. Thank you, LEGO, for bringing back the Harry Potter line!
