Bucket List

Bought the Effel tower for myself as it has been on my list to visit one day. Finally got it this year to build it with my son who is also a huge Lego fan and loves building them. Overall due to the size was very repeative which would require patience. The bottom arches was the most challenging in putting together, if it wasn't for my son not sure if it would have been put together as well as it did. Quality time spent in building this with him is priceless and looking forward to other builds!!! Would to to have the original Taj Mahal back on the market.

Only LEGO I Have Ever Returned

I have bought and built around 70 LEGO sets in the last 6 months. This is the only one I have ever returned. This set had been on my Wishlist for sometime and very excited to get it. I had seen it in person and thought it was beautiful built together. However, when I starting to build it myself it was EXTREMELY tedious and repetitive. NOT a fun build at all! It was very unstable being as tall as it was and felt like it would collapse. I think LEGO creators are very talented but this one could have been better in my opinion.

Absolutely incredible!

Wow! This set is mind-blowingly awesome. While the build is repetitive in parts and may be tricky to display for many given its size, the final product is truly impressive. I recommend this set for LEGO fans that can build it over a couple of weeks and have a place to display it once built. It's my new favorite!

Excellent Model - Not a play set
on January 5, 2023

This set is all about something massive - like the real thing being built for the sake of making the the tallest structure at the time, the reason you need this set is to have because of its size. I found the build to be easy compared to titanic - but very repetitive - which I like because I usually have a couple of people building big sets with me. The arches are structurally dubious but amazingly seem to stay on quite well in spite of hanging upside down with little in the way of support. This is not a playset and unlike the Titanic this model will probably not withstand child play. But as a display piece - very cool!

Intricately beautiful but too fragile
on January 9, 2023

Like others, the bottom section arches drove me nuts. They fall off too easily. And which is frustrating because in real life arches are there to provide structural strength but here are merely cosmetic appendages that detach from the core model if you look at them cross eyed. Only a relative few studs hold them in place, and I was going to weigh them as a point of reference but didn’t want to have to spend a half hour getting them back onto the model without falling off again. I am thinking of ways to make them sturdier because this thing really is gorgeous and deserves a showing, but the price of all this beauty is this one area, a key and important arena though, of fragility.
It would be great if LEGO could come up with the pieces needed to sturdy up the arches. Like when a computer company sends out a patch to correct a software issue. This set needs a patch. But again, it certainly is gorgeous when all said an done.
Also, most photos I’ve seen don’t convey the size of this thing. It’s BIG. Like a piece of furniture. And when your imagination gets going, as mine did, and if you’re scared of heights, like I am, at some point you put yourself in the shoes of a little LEGO person and you get scared at the height of this thing. You don’t want to be a little LEGO person and fall from the top of the tower!

Would be great if it didn't constantly fall apart

So may elements just fall off, it doesn't hold together well at all. Wish I knew before I spent so much money on it.

Building For Two
on May 11, 2023

Obtained this set as a stress relief project. Going back to college is a little more difficult when you’re in your 50’s. My wife soon joined me. The repetition that is mentioned is easier if there is another person to share the tasks with. I found the entire build enjoyable. Finished it in three days.

Not as good as I had Hoped

My complaint has to do with build construction. In my opinion. It could have been designed better to make a stronger construction and a more satisfying build.
