Great build, a bit tedious.

I purchased this set recently to make it a showpiece in our home office. It was an absolute blast to build, however I do have to say it can be a bit tedious. One of the first layers on the second level had you placing 144 of the round “button” pieces. Tedious…but it does look great!
I do have to say I am disappointed in the construction. The cross pieces in the legs do not connect to the other legs which leaves noticeable gaps, and seems structurally deficient. While it does look great, close up viewing leaves one wishing it had been designed better.
The base with the trees and lights is awesome. Great design on that part. All-in-all I rated it higher because it is a great value and a nice center piece for the office…just don’t look at it too closely.

Beautiful Set, Somewhat Tedious Build

Having completed this set, I can say it's absolutely gorgeous on display and has so many little intricate details. It's a joy to look at, but it does need a lo of space for display. As other people have said, the build is probably the most repetitive out of any set I've built thus far. I would recommend spreading out the build over the course of a couple of weeks if you do get this, but overall I think the end result is definitely worth it.

My thoughts on this set are much like the thoughts of many, many others: nearly-unparalleled as a display piece, a miserable tedium of a build experience.
None of that should come as any surprise. I mean, it's a five foot tall model of the Eiffel. Of COURSE it's great as a display piece (assuming, of course, that you know where you're putting it and have the space for it: it has a beefy footprint and the height is no joke). It's a stunner, especially from a distance. Imposing, elegant, and attractive. From that perspective, this set is a 5 out of 5.
But ooof, that build. Repetitive, dull, monotonous. It is not fun - or at least, I didn't have any fun with it. The base isn't so bad, but after that, get ready for the same steps repeated dozens upon dozens of times, using the same fiddly little bits. It was hours of tedium and I didn't enjoy it at all.
Does the destination justify the journey? Up to you to decide. For me...maybe? I'm glad to have it done and in my office, but I'm also glad it's finished and would never willingly repeat the process.
Still, you have to admire the chutzpah of a set like this. Lego went and gave us a 10,000 piece monster of a model and it looks absolutely fantastic when it's done. In the end, as a serious Lego fan, this set was an inevitability. Like Mallory and his mountain, I built this because it was there.

My grandson is getting this for Christmas as he loves all your architecture sets, He has all that we could get. Has been getting Lego for 23 years. Best product ever and he has over 335 sets.

The build was challenging but there was a lot of redundancy as you moved through levels. The finished product was impressive once completed. It dwarfs the loop Coaster.
