This set was awesome!

I am a 12 year old kid and I built this set in the time span of 15 hours. I worked on it nonstop. I would recommend this set if you have the time and the patience. This set can be repetitive. I absolutely loved this set and would totally build it again!

A Truly Monumental Set
on January 17, 2023

This is a LEGO masterpiece with a truly glorious final appearance, both due to its imposing presence and its impressive level of detail. I was amazed at the view up from the middle of the base being almost exactly as I remember it from the first time I visited the tower. If you have the room for it and can afford it, I would consider owning it a no-brainer. To the 10000 pieces forming the tower, I added 40 transparent window panes bought on BrickLink to the first floor, both as a tribute to the original 10181 Eiffel Tower set, and so that the light reflections invoke the restaurant and shops found on the first floor. Regarding the repetitive parts of the build, there is no way around them besides perseverance, but I found that except for the trees in the beginning and the numerous cross pieces you will have to patiently assemble (I recommend listening to your favorite playlists while doing it and not working on it for more than 2h runs), you are rarely assembling exactly the same thing more than twice. Despite appearances, the symmetry of the tower is x2 (only 2 sides are identical to each other due to the orientation of the supporting beams), while the Taj Mahal was mostly x4, for instance. Perhaps the more painful part was the section right above the second floor, as the lattice structure is completely separate from the supports and feels a lot flimsier than the pillars built previously. It's also where the use of the "trompe-l'oeil" approach by the designers is more obvious, as there are no inside cross pieces at this point. Also, I have had no problems with the much maligned arch decoration parts. I do recommend assembling them on a flat surface so you can apply pressure and make sure the structure holding the lattice (and later the arches) is very tightly connected together as you build it before attaching it to the first floor. At that point it also pays to go around twice tightening the connection to the first floor square (you will stop hearing creaking when it's tight), and immediately connect and hook the pieces of flexible tubing for all 4 arches, which really provide significant vertical support. In over a month, the arches and lattice structure have not budged. Finally, a few tips I found useful during the build:
- In step 40, I found it difficult and frustrating to set the green 1x1 round piece in the middle of the 4x2 plate, but it's a doddle if you assist it with one of the tree trunk or lamppost pieces (found in bag 15 later in the build).
- Do spend the time aligning the lattice structure with the templates in the printed instructions (might help to make a copy of the templates, so they can lie flat on a table). They are not perfect for all sections, but are pretty close, so you will have less manual alignment to do on the built tower.
- Assembling the lattice structure for the last (tallest) section may appear daunting, but if you set all the 1x1 round pieces with the pins and studs pointing up as a first step, then connecting them to the "candle" pieces (there are 660 of them in the set!!) is like a game of whack-a-mole and goes really quickly.
In summary, the LEGO designers should be congratulated for devising what was an epic build of an epic set that you will forever admire every time you set your eyes on it.

Annoying build…. You better be extremely patient

Visually, this is a great piece
The construction, or lack there of, makes this build extremely annoying. A great majority of this build floats and is not securely fastened. Too much pressure causing it to fall apart. Too little pressure prevents the pieces from securing.

Only LEGO I Have Ever Returned
on December 17, 2025

I have bought and built around 70 LEGO sets in the last 6 months. This is the only one I have ever returned. This set had been on my Wishlist for sometime and very excited to get it. I had seen it in person and thought it was beautiful built together. However, when I starting to build it myself it was EXTREMELY tedious and repetitive. NOT a fun build at all! It was very unstable being as tall as it was and felt like it would collapse. I think LEGO creators are very talented but this one could have been better in my opinion.

Outrageously awesome

The LEGO designers have outdone themselves with this one - it simply must be seen to be believed. I’ve built many large sets, from the Titanic and Colosseum to the Star Destroyer, but the Eiffel Tower takes the cake - just an amazing set. It’s so big it almost takes on a life of its own, so to say it’s a great display piece is an understatement. The build is a tad repetitive, but less so than Colosseum (or at least this one feels more engaging). Only complaint is with the arches, as they are prone to slipping/coming loose from (too few) connections. But that’s a very minor point. If you only buy one LEGO set - and you’ve got the room - buy this one.
