It's okay but doesn't work for 16" 22 MBP

This thing doesn’t charge my Mac!!

My computer doesn’t charge!!! I literally have a power plug in the docking station and I still plug the computer in directly!!

Stopped working soon after purchase -- yet another failed HyperDrive product

This device stopped working for me six months out of the box. I am within the manufacturer warranty, but to be honest, I am so sick of dealing with HyperDrive products that consistently fail, or have a recall, that I am no longer going to use its products. The latest product I purchased -- an Anker docking station -- has worked flawlessly.

Power Pass through not working - HyperDrive 4K Multi-Display Docking Station

Great functionality, unfortunately, the dock will not transfer power to the laptop and my external screens will not turn on. I needed a workaround and had to plug the laptop in directly in order to utilize this dock.

Didn't like that the expansion

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Didn't like that the expansion port was a different color than the main dock. Then it didn't stay connected to monitors all the time. They kept blinking on and off. And then there was the heat. The device would get really hot, and the laptop fans would always be on, when they would not do this with other docks.

Great when it actually works

I love this product concept and design, but the quality of the internal components has been a serious issue for me. The first dock I received stopped working after just over a year. The power supply burned out or something - it would not accept power from any source so the entire thing stopped working. After returning and getting a replacement, the new dock still has issues connecting over half of the time. I have to remove the cable and re-connect it once or twice to get my devices to recognize that they're plugged in. The HDMI #1 port is the most problematic one, since it's the one that has issues detecting my MacBook Pro most of the time. Also, many other devices seem like they aren't getting enough power. For example, my webcam drops frames when connected to the dock but works normally when connected directly to the laptop. This product looks amazing and feels nice to touch, but it doesn't always work as reliably as I want. I want to love this product, but with the experience I have now, I think I would prefer to buy a larger and uglier dock that is plugged into wall power to avoid these connection issues.

I have a dual monitor set up and like to keep my laptop shut all day. This is exactly what I needed to get my set up going. It's super easy to connect and disconnect whenever I'm heading out with just the laptop!
