I've had the HappyLight Compact for a year or two now, and when I use it consistently during the winter months, it is extremely helpful in combatting my SAD. I live in the PNW, so we don't get a lot of sun, which is definitely a product I need. I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone. I especially like this one because it's affordable and effective.

I purchased this light because I live in northeast Ohio, where it is gray, gray, GRAY. From November through March, sunlight is extremely hard to come by, and it definitely does a number on my mental wellness. I suffer from mild SAD (seasonal affective disorder), and the use of my Happy Light nearly every morning, along with daily vitamin D3 supplementation has made a noticeable difference in my moods! The full spectrum is definitely bright, and might take a day or so of use to get used to, but it's very worth it. No matter what style you get, I really don't think you can go wrong, and it can only be beneficial! (And if you really don't notice the benefits? Well, you have an amazing vanity light! hehe) Recommended!

Mimics sunshine

I am using this lamp differently than most. I have always been very sensitive to sunlight, so I'm not sure why I expected this to be different with this lamp. Using it as instructed gave my instant nausea and headaches. BUT i found a way to use that's perfect. I wanted this because I work from my basement (its only half underground) and in winter, the sun never shines in. I placed this lamp in the basement window. The direct light is blocked by a cabinet, but the indirect light bouncing off the walls and spilling into the room mimics the sun that usually shines into the room during the summer. Since I cannot see the lamp directly, I use the light for a few hours in the morning. I do notice I feel more alert, more quickly in the mornings. I am definitely not receiving the recommended 10,000 lumens, but it still seems to have the effects intended. I probably would select an adjustable brightness model next time since I am light sensitive, but otherwise have no regrets. The light isn't as warm toned as sunlight, but the brightness seems to be what matters for mood and combating mild SAD.

Customer Service was wonderful! I have an old unit the VT 10 and it was a great unit and improved my mood. Looking forward to Happy Light Compact to do the same.
