Excellent hardware, poor communication on software

It's really unfortunate that as we put more and more of ourselves onto mobile devices, that these devices are still treated like dumbphones. With greater complexity will come the need for more security, especially in the form of regular and timely software updates. Samsung does not currently seem equal to this task.
The Epic 4G is the best hardware currently available in the USA. 4G from Sprint is a revelation. The screen is gorgeous. However it's still stuck on Android 2.1, and even the build of 2.1 it's currently running is a bit buggy for many users. This wouldn't be as much of an issue if more regular updates were being posted (the phone has really only received one substantial update since its release last summer). Plus this lack of update has stung all the more as we start to hear about Android 2.4 coming soon, making our phones even more obsolete. This is not how a premier smartphone should be handled.
I really hope Samsung is able to provide better support in the future, or I may have to re-examine what companies I choose to do business with.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Greatest Phone

The epic is the greatest phone ive ever had its amazing and fast and does everything i could want it to do. Its as fast and powerful as my first laptop.
This phone is by far one of the best on the market today! It's attractive, lightweight and has a slide-out physical keyboard. The Super AMOLED screen is stunning and the clarity is exceptional. The 4G capabilities make this phone one of the fastest in the industry. Unlike most smart phones, the Samsung Epic comes preloaded with a full 16GB MicroSD memory card to accomadate lots of pictures, music, and applications right out of the box. If that's not enough, the memory can be expanded to 32GB. Sound clarity during calls is excellent on both ends and dropped calls are rare. As with any smart phone, battery life is suspect due to the numerous functions and capabilities of the device. It is advisable to purchase an additional battery to alleviate this problem.
I had a moment and now The Epic 4g. I really like the features and the reviews on it.. It's ease of use and general overall features are great. I am Glad I bought it.
Pros: all of the above
Cons: missing flash player
I would recommend this to a friend!

2/17/2011 and still no 2.2 Froyo update?

We have been hearing for months that samsung would be pushing out the froyo update, a lot of other products have pushed out 2.2. HTC had froyo by the time the galaxy line came out, by the time we get froyo other products will be getting gingerbread, with this current OS the battery life is terrible and have to turn off a lot of features that I normally use for work, such as push e-mail, gps settings and others. Don't even consider playing a game on this phone because you will lose half the battery life very quickly. Can't wait to upgrade out of this phone, the sad thing is I love Samsung products a lot of my home appliances are samsung, tv, fridge, clocks, computers, sound systems.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Not high def, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I may be biased because I have only bought Samsung phone. However, the EPIC 4G is everyting I need. Dont get me wrong, Ive had some problems with it but as with any product you will have problems. Overall, this is an excellent product and to me is far better than the IPhone or HTC Evo.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

This phone is Awesome. I love the keyboard, it was the main reason I picked this phone over other similar models.
