Samsung Epic 4G For Sprint

I had been shopping on the Sprint website for a phone for my upgrade I was stumped between the HTC Evo 4G & the Samsung Epic 4G. I finally chose the Samsung Epic 4G I was very satisfied with my choice the picture is awsome the picture color and detail is very rich. When watching videos while wearing your headphones on it gives you the option of 5.1 Dolby sound. Sorry Samsung I have to add my con's to my review the touch screen is very sensitive and the battery life is ok to good with the Android app it helps you try to preserve your battery life but when your having fun it's kind of hard : )
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, with the headphones you get 5.1 dolby surround
Cons: battery life not good
I would recommend this to a friend!

Epic is a good start
on September 15, 2010

The Epic is a keeper. The camera with auto-flash works very good. All the other features, like speedier chip, great display and handy apps make this an improvement over the HTC Hero that I had before.
Issues with this outstanding smartphone.
1. Where is the live video-chat capability? I believe all the hardware components are in place. What's up with that one?
2. Picasa. Initially it synched fine with the web version and Gallery app. Issues later with taking pix with Epic, and Gallery creates a name for the album, and cannot change the name on the phone. It does sync (although a bit tricky) with the web and it is there that I need to change the name. Meanwhile, on the phone, the pix are in the phone created name (camera). New photos created on a camera and synched to the web do not appear on the phone, no matter what I do. The synching process needs to be refined and made more usable, and user friendly.
3. Email app on phone for other than Gmail is inadequate. I cannot vary the number of emails in the inbox, a dilemma with me. The Sprint store called Samsung and they downloaded K-9 email and all is fine now.
4. Calendar reminders. When a calendar entry is made on the PC and shows up on the phone, how does the reminder feature kick in? Not sure it does. The same holds for the phone initiated meeting reminders.
5. Notifications. It appears the same notifications are for all events, whether texts or emails. The Epic needs to discern between different events. An email, for example, may have a different priority to me than a text, and should vary the notification sounds.

Epic falls short of expectations

The design of the Epic makes it difficult to deals with. The touch screen is too sensitive and is continually launching applications on its own. The on-off button is difficult to access. All notifications come in with the same sound which is a pain. I would like to know which text or emails maybe important and which I can wait until later to check. The battery is not nearly strong enough to last 4 hours without recharging based on regular use including the use of the Internet. The display is nice but you can't look at it too long because it drains the battery. I will be looking for another option when my contract runs out.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great phone with lot's of features

The phone is a pleaser but need a few changes to meet my top expectations. First the power cord connection needs to be on the bottom of the phone. Second, the phone slide out keyboard is design for a left handed person I am use to sliding my phone with my right hand instead of my left hand.
Pros: Realistic color
Cons: Not high def, battery life not so good/power on top of phone
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is the best phone that I have ever seen. For many years I have had Palm phones with the web OS system and I never thought that it could be beat. I still believe that the web Os is A great sysytem. My brother told me that I should try it and see how easy it is to operate. I am still in awe and I believe that this is the best phone that I have ever owned. I still love the web OS but it will be extremely hard to go back to palm after this phone!! Go Samsung, I can't wait to see what else you can do!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Too big, battery life is too short!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

This phone is garbage

It has broken in at least 3 separate areas in less than one year of greatly caring for it. The "slider" design is pointless and useless, and makes the phone unnecessarily bulky and clumsy. I hate this phone and regret buying it, and would not recommend it.
Cons: Poor quality, Too big, Did not meet expectations, awful, terrible battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
