Don't buy

I bought two of these. Within 8 months of purchase both required service work and one had to be replaced. Having problems with the other one and I was told to take it in next time it fails so they can verify the problem, then they will replace it. After 5+ hours sitting at Sprint service facility, to address the problems I have had with these two phones, I can honestly advise against buying this product.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, software issues, battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I returned the first phone within the first two weeks because it kept shutting off randomly. I've had phone two for 20 months and am counting the days until my contract's up and I can unload this piece of junk.
The battery life is nonexistent. Even the first day I used it, I got no more than three hours out of it before it needed recharged. Sometimes I'll charge it all night, unplug it the next morning (it indicates a full charge), notice it feels hot, and within an hour and a half the phone will be dead.
It wasn't until a software update a year after getting my phone that I could finally load a video (e.g. YouTube), but I've still never actually watched an entire video yet because it always freezes up.
I can't use Words With Friends because it gets so hot I can barely touch it, a caution/warning sign with a slash through it comes on, and the phone freezes.
The past week the "mystery" flashing red light on the end of the phone has been blinking. It does this randomly. I have no idea what it means - there are no new texts, emails, or notifications - but in the past it's meant even further reduced battery life.
The reception is terrible. Rarely do I have all bars; and my husband has an iPhone through Sprint and his reception is much better, so I know it's my phone. The few times I've even seen the 4G running - and those have been few - I didn't notice any improvement in performance at all.
Everything about the touch keyboard is hard to use.
I get so tired of making sure active applications are off. I installed a widget to the home screen so I can see everything that remains open. Nothing ever turns off once I leave an application.
Every time I get a notification, it vibrates, even though I have vibrate set on "never."
I can't WAIT to get an iPhone!
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Impressive Hardware, No Froyo
on January 28, 2011

I've been genuinely impressed with my Epic. The screen is literally beautiful! The full keyboard is great, and battery life is good too once you learn how to use your phone.
I couldn't be happier with the hardware.
But the lack of Android 2.2 has ruined this product for me. Froyo adds so many features, that it's difficult to enjoy the phone. I bought this phone because its front facing camera would let me talk to my girlfriend who lives overseas. But I can't use Yahoo video chat because I don't have 2.2. I've been disappointed in how little Samsung has told its customers about the dates for the 2.2 release.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations, expensive, no froyo
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like the epic it's nice. It does have some lag issues almost like freezing but not as long. The settings are sensitive if they are exactly right then lots of things don't work as they should. You can easily make it so you can't communicate with companies because the keys don't work while you are on a call. You can not search the web while on the phone BIG NEGATIVE!!!!!! The key board is spacious almost too much real estate in comparison to the thumb pads like blackberry. There doesn't appear a way that you can search names by typing the name, I only see where you can search contacts by scroll....big pain when you have 2800 contacts. The media hub still doesn't work. The price is a bit absurd. I mean really....just because it has a keyboard. But I bought it anyway because Evo didn't have one I traded my Evo in for the Epic after 45 days. I love that is has a massive memory> Currenly I have 9 pages of apps (btw that what the dots represent on the home screen....pages) I miss my push email from my Blackberry but I am certain I will get passed that soon enough or maybe I will simply keep the blackberry. The speaker phone quality is pitiful at best and the headphone that come with it look expensive but my sound quality decreases considerably. But the keyboard and hundreds of apps it can hold make it a keeper for me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not ready for prime time

The lack of interoperability of the phone with PC rates this phone un-usable for business professionals. Needs synch software for auto backup, music, Outlook. (The only integration provided is with Exchange; if you are a small business or individual without corporate exchange - no solutions are available.)
Battery life renders the product a 'tethered' phone as it must be plugged in several times a day.
Pros: Built-in speakers
Cons: expensive, lack of interoperability
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
