Great Phone, Bad Battery Life
on December 3, 2010

I've had this phone for 5 days and the battery barely lasts 20hrs with little use. I drive a bus and can't risk running out of battery so I have been VERY conservative in my usage and the battery still won't make a full day and it takes 4 hrs to recharge. If you on the move and rely on your phone like me don't get this one.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display
Cons: Not high def, Too big, Did not meet expectations, short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Shop before you buy this toy

Quite possibly the worst phone I have ever owned. After getting over the reluctancy to use a "touch / smart-phone", and an amazing deal, I thank God I did not spend any more money on this toy than I did. My hesitation was quickly justified. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR SERIOUS BUSINESS or for EMERGENCY LINE OF WORK. NUMEROUS random reboots DURING phone calls, lock-ups when you seemingly need it to work the most, and guess-work on what WILL work today and what will NOT, completely take the joy out of owning this "phone". Great entertainment device for kids? Yes! "Business phone"? No. Kids, this phone is for you; adults, you have been warned.
When getting new phones, my wife opted for the HTC EVO while I got the Samsung EPIC, so I have the opportunity to compare the two. No comparison - the EPIC is so much better. Better organized, more user friendly, better, clearer graphics, more one touch functionality, just a better overall phone. I am certain my wife will want a Samsung next time.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, well organized
I would recommend this to a friend!

no phone calls and no texting

i bought this phone because of all the great reviews about the design and android platform blah blah blah... when i got the phone i was really excited and it worked great for the first day or two. and then the phone stopped sending text messages. i would have to turn off the phone and then turn it back on to get the text messages to send. then shortly thereafter the phone would force close all the apps i would run on the phone (even the ones that came loaded on the phone when i bought it). i spoke with the sales rep about this problems and he said that it was unusual but that he could switch the phone out for a new one if i wanted. i got the new phone a few days ago and this new phone doesn't let me know when people are calling or when text messages have arrived and it won't even dial out half the time. i was out with friends and we got separated and they called me numerous times and there was no "missed call" alert or anything. i've been with the same company for 12 years and have never had a problem with calls or text messages until i got this samsung phone. i know it's not the network i'm on, my previous phone (an HTC phone that i loved) had no issues and i'm using the new phone in the exact same areas as my old HTC. i'm going to see about getting this phone looked at, but i am leaning towards scrapping the whole thing and going back to HTC because it's a brand that actually works! i am extremely disappointed with the poor quality of this phone.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, did not receive phone calls, did not receive text message, did not send text messages, delivered text messages hours or days late
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

i love my epic. the only problem i have is that the battery life is not the best. overall i love the phone!
I purchased two of these phones for my daughter and I. It was hard enough to migrate from the iPhone but I finally took the leap. I do regret it. The phone does not maintain your custom configuration, it locks and the battery must be removed, the internal SD card went bad and had to be replaced, the new SD card has now gone bad.
