Buggiest phone ever
on September 2, 2011

First, let me start by saying that this is a great phone - when it works. The screen is superb, it's super fast, the slide out keyboard is very convenient, the software is great, and it's a slick little phone.
HOWEVER, I have had this phone replaced 3 times in 5 months (about to be replaced a 4th time) and each phone has had significant issues affecting performance.
Phone 1: Lost the ability to transmit sound to automated dialing systems (i.e. press 1 for yes, press 2 for no). It also randomly deleted applications I had installed.
Phone 2: the back button did not work
Phone 3: Poor signal reception. More than half of calls would not go through at all, and the other half suffered from garbled or non-existent audio.
Phone 4: Bluetooth issues (drops bluetooth connection in the middle of calls when the phone is 2 feet away, sometimes will not connect at all). Now having trouble receiving a signal. Audio is garbled or non-existent in 25% of calls.
I'm sorry that I upgraded my trusty little push button phone for this unusable brick. :-(
I would not recommend this phone.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

below expectations

This product unfortunately was below my expectations. The battery life has been poor, and quality very poor I've had to exchange the item shortly after purchasing it. Although it provided a great OS which I took advantage while the phone worked well, after a while it starts slowing down even without adding new apps having the same amount of apps runing, and it starts freezing. Pros while it works it is a great product with which you can browse emails, watch videos, read and much more. The screen looks great and the camera takes really good photos.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, poor battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Epic way behind on Android updates
on March 4, 2011

The Epic doesn't have the features or available apps for use that phones that get updates have. The lack of updates put this phone behind other phones from other companies, even some with inferior hardware. Unless I get Android 2.2 within the month AND 2.3 shortly after, I really believe I wasted my money on this phone, and since Samsung started developing its new Galaxy S before getting this one to work properly (or at least putting enough pressure on Google if they're responsible), it's safe to say I'll never buy another Samsung product again if those updates don't come soon.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, no android updates
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the phone, but I have some issues with it.

These are the few things that I don't like about the Epic.
Gmail doesn't show the video attachment size when sending emails.
You can only send videoss through gmail is by going to the gallery then sharing.
You can't natively see the percentage of battery life left.
You can't assign the dock message icon to the messaging app of your choice, so it brings up both ur app and the stock app.
In the gallery, you cant get the pic or video size by hitting details.
The little bubbles, on the home screen, are unnecessary.
No Samsung calendar widget.
TouchWiz freezes/lags on me enough times to be slightly annoying.
If I'm incorrect on any of these please correct me.
With this said, I still love the phone!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Battery life is too bad! Phone is dead in 13 hours after 5 phone calls totaling 45 min. No 4G, no GPS to save power, but still can't make day. Waiting for update 2.2.
Cons: Did not meet expectations

Awkward

Just something about this phone that is awkward to use. Sprint coverage never gets above 3 bars. Battery life is awful. Nothing is simple. Really miss my iPhone. Switching to this phone was a mistake for me. But hey, it is great as a hand warmer- really gets warm to the touch.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations, awkward to use, heats up, poor battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
