I really like the phone, but I have to charge it several times per day. That's just not good enough.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, intuitive os
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not up to par and OVERPRICED

First the bad: TERRIBLE email interface! The worse I have ever experienced. I bought this since my Samsung Instinct was incredible when getting emails. This thing hardly updates and doesn't sync with anything other than the other email account. Another issue is always having to use ATK everytime I start the phone. It has now become part of a ritual when using the phone. The accelerometer is not very quick and takes awhile to realize between horizontal and vertical. I can tolerate the battery life, but the BIGGEST disappointment is...WHERE IS 2.2! I bought this with the understanding this phone would be updated to 2.2 since I want flash. Now I hear rumors that this might not be the case. The biggest waste of my money since that was the main reason I got this.
The good - AMOLED screen - very nice. Phone has good reception.
That's about it. My ratings would go exponentially higher if 2.2 and flash are added to this phone. Right now, I would like to give this 3 stars.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations, where is 2.2
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Android Phone

Initially I bought the Samsung Moment as the Epic hadn't been released yet... after it's release I upgraded and haven't looked back, at first I thought it looked a bit cheap and seemed to have a toy keyboard however after using it over a month... I love it, super fast and no issues when running multiple apps. Also very durable, as i've bumped it a few times and dropped it by accident once or twice and it's fine...not even a scratch thanks to the rubberized case I bought for it... All around, compared to other smart phones out right now including the Evo and the Iphone, the Epic gets my vote as the best phone out right now!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color
Cons: no android 2.2 yet, poor battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have to admit I had some troubles with the phone at first, I returned 2 because the screen's loosened up and started to rattle when texting and became very unstable to try to use as a touch screen. I'm on my 3rd one and knock on wood no problem.
I think what makes the screen loosen up is the vibrating mode when a text message comes in or when a phone call comes. I turned off all vibration features and no problem what so ever with the 3rd phone. I also had a problem with the 1st phone that after making 1 phone call I could not make another phone call until I had rebooted the phone several times. I read many complaints on android and epic 4g forums about back button problems though I did not have this problem myself. The 2nd phone had a problem with the screen locking up and I would have to pull the battery to get it to shut off and restart it. Now I'm on my 3rd Epic and I think I finally got a good batch. I had bought my first one on release day. The one I got today was made less than 2 weeks ago, so I think as I said I got a good one this time!!
Normally I would not be so patient with a phone and would have given up by the 2nd one and chosen a different phone. But I am absolutely in love with the screen on this phone and the features and Android itself so I stuck it out and it paid off! Loving it!!!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight, android app store, absolutely gorgeous screen, qwerty keyboard, media hub store, great camera, shoots great video too!
Cons: quality could be a little better, price could be a little lower, phone could be a bit more sturdy
I would recommend this to a friend!

I would give this a 5 star rating if Android Version 2.2 was insight for this device. But there is no definitive time when it will be available. Other than that this same operating system on my Samsung Moment was what I based my experience off of. So compared to that it is a 4 out 5.
Pros: Bright display, fast
Cons: Did not meet expectations
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just purchased this product. The download speeds are good, however I am not in a 4G area. I particularly like the GPS system and using it with Google maps, I can go anywhere. There are more apps available for the phone than I could use. The sound is good but the external speakers are not that great, it has some really neat features, like animated wall paper. But there are some things I don't care for. First, I imported my contact list from Google's website (G-mail). On Google I have my contacts last name first (keeps the family's names together). When they downloaded, the contacts are first name first and there is only one way to fix it. You have to individually change each contact and put the last name in the first name slot, etc... Second there are apps that appear on the phone that are a nuisance. The icon can be removed but the application cannot be deleted. Things like the football scores, NASCAR, and other similar apps. There is a "Kill" app which turns all of those off, but they turn themselves back on and they use up battery time and bandwidth.
Speaking of battery time, this phone does not have an "extended life" battery. You only get one size and it barely lasts all day (My previous phone was Samsung and the big battery was good for 2 to 3 days). If you plug into a laptop it leaches power from the laptop. However, the power cord/data cable is the USB mini. I don't like that as a power cord, they go bad too fast.
All of that being said, I do like the Phone and would buy it again.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: undeletable apps, can't format contact list
I would recommend this to a friend!

No Firmware Support

The firmware on the Epic is Android 2.1. Many of the capabilities of this phone could be unlocked with a Firmware upgrade to 2.2 or 2.3 ( Bluetooth voice dialing, Apps to SD..etc...) This phone only gets 2 stars because of the lack of support from Samsung
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: lack of support
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
