This phone combined with Sprint is Awful!!! I don't know who is more to blame but the signal, updates, and speed can not compare to my old Blackberry.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Awesome Phone, but has its flaws
on September 18, 2010

I've had the Epic 4G since August 31st and i have only really found flaws when trying to make calls. The most annoying flaw is receiving a notification during a call. If the notification is set to ring, the phone will ring in your ear. If it's set to vibrate, it will vibrate in your ear. And obviously if its set to ring and vibrate, it will ring and vibrate in your ear. There definitely needs to be a sort of "during call" notification beep or so. Also three way calling and call waiting are flawed too. For example, If i am on the phone with Person A and then I add Person B to the line, if Person A hangs up, and i want to put Person C on the line instead, I am not allowed because it still says i am connected to Person A, so the "Add Call" button is not allowed. This same concept applies to Call Waiting. If i'm on the phone with Person A and i receive an incoming call from Person B, when either of the two hang up, it still says i'm connected to both, thus i'm not allowed to use call waiting again until i receive another incoming call. Three way calling is also disabled when this scenario happens as well.
Other than that, the phone is simply what it says, "Epic". I love everything else about the phone and am definitely satisfied with my purchase. Great Job Samsung!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, 4g
Cons: battery life, call waiting/ three way calling
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome display, hardware keyboard, 4g speed, superfast processor. I like it better than my Evo. it is a lot lighter than my Evo, or my Samsung Moment before. it is a great device overall. only problems so far are 1) can't assign custom ringtones to contacts synced to exchange (or synced with any service other than gmail), and 2) it could not acquire GPS signal in my car. I heard a rumor that there is SW update forthcoming for the GPS issues, but nothing yet for the custom ringtones...
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: gps navigation issues
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good phone! First phone that I didn't feel I needed a physical keyboard on, thanks to the miraculous SWYPE. How about a keyboard that can be removed and changed out for an additional battery slot?
Dedicated button for the great quality camera. - WIN
Slow to review picture just taken - FAIL
Camera Software - HTC's is still better
Usb port and headphones on same side - WIN
Both of those are on the top. No docking - FAIL
Micro USB - Ick. go back to the more robust mini USB.
Cannot use headphone jack with external speakers in speakerphone mode. Mic is turned off.
Power button on side instead of top - FAIL.
Sliding door on MicroUSB slot. - Semi-FAIL
Recess the camera lens a little so its not rubbing against the surface its sitting on.
AppKiller application built in - WIN
Wireless toggling in the Notifications drop down - Brilliant WIN
Other Samsung apps included- WIN
AMOLED Screen - Major Win!
Other
Pros: Bright display
I would recommend this to a friend!

BEST PHONE EVER - BETTER THAN THE EVO

This is by far the best phone I've ever owned! Not only a phone, but it's my mp3 player, movie player, 3d gaming, weather info, email, in-car navigator, camera - it does nearly everything any similar sized device, or smaller, does!
* The screen is amazing and perfect size. Phone calls are smooth with one-touch speakerphone, bluetooth, and mute on the call screen. It integrates your facebook contact's pictures with gmail contact's numbers/addresses very efficiently. Gmail will also pull your contacts from any other email such as my Live Mail contacts.
* GPS works excellent in Sprint navigation, Google maps, Google navigation, and Google Earth. The new Google navigation is really awesome and better than Sprint's because it has Google Maps' satellite views and integrated search. This makes it BETTER than most car GPS devices.
* OH and this phone has voice recognition - just talk to the phone and it will search the web or map or make a call! Just hold down the search button for 2 secs.
* High quality videos play smooth and with a built in headphone jack, this turns into a mobile media center!
* The enhanced gaming processor really blows through 3d games and most of them use the internal gyros, turning the phone into a steering wheel/flight yoke (think Wii remote).
* The slide keyboard is strong and the touch keyboard works well, too. The four buttons for navigating the OS are perfect.
* Android interface is rock steady, extremely smooth and oh so responsive.
* Battery life is very acceptable if you manage 4G/WiFi/GPS/Bluetooth radios and screen brightness.
* 4G is just a bonus to all this. Doesn't work well inside buildings though (Honolulu area).
I just can't say enough about this phone - I've never felt so strongly about a product before. There will always be something better in time, but it's hard to argue needing something better than this for it's size. This is THE BEST
Pros: adroid os, 3d gaming, high quality video, front camera, led notification light, gps car navigation, social media integration, 3g/4g/wifi, quality speakerphone, headphone jack
Cons: price, no fm radio, the sprint cdma network limits this to usa only., wifi tethering costs extra
I would recommend this to a friend!

Battery Life not worth it
on September 27, 2010

The battery does not last at all. It will only stay charged a few hours and needs to be charged again. Mine was fully charged at 0630 this morning. I have used it once (all other programs are not running) and as of 1054 my battery is at 24%. I am taking my phone back and exchanging it for one that will have a longer battery life.
This phone is great and has a lot of cool stuff but I prefer not to be tethered to a charging station. Samsung and all other manufactures, if you are going to make such a cool phone, make the battery last longer. This phone is much better than the battery.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, battery life is very short
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like the phone and everything it can do but the battery life is a big draw back. If I am going to be away from a charging source (outlet or car) for length of time (8 to 10 hours) I can't utilize all the benefits of a smart phone and still have enough battery to receive and make calls and texts. If the battery life was better I would rate this phone as excellent.
The size does take some getting used to but is understandable with the nice screen and keyboard.
Pros: Bright display, great usefull apps., keyboard
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!
