Awesome smart phone!

LOVE this new phone. I've had a palm treo for the last 3 years and was ready to upgrade. The sales people didn't even show me how to turn it on or how to get "home" but after playing with it for a couple of days almost non-stop I feel like a pro. It is super fast, fantastic display, does everything I could possibly want. I imported my calendar and contacts into gmail out of outlook and had no problems whatsoever plus then it is always backed up on-line. I bought the "bigger" battery, not sure how long its supposed to last but it went all day yesterday and I spent alot of time figuring out the phone, taking pictures, spent an hour talking (great clarity too), lots of time on the market and the web etc. Here is the key to keeping your battery life: 1) go with the minimum screen brightness as that is a major battery drainer, its still beautiful. 2) Only use 4g when your on the web, even the 3g on this phone seems fast! 3) turn off blue tooth when you're not using it. You can download advanced task killer which allows you to easily turn on and off those features. 4) put the running programs and battery use widgets on your main screen. The running programs shows you what is really running and will even turn red when there is a particular program that is using alot of battery. The battery use just gives you an idea where your battery is being spent.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight, fast
Cons: none

First, No outlook sync? How do they think they can market this as a business phone ever to anybody? Second, no video out? Doesnt matter who removed it with a update is out right wrong. The other phones have this feature. Finally no 2.2 update? I just want to return it and get another phone! But I won’t because I love the keyboard. This is a love hate relationship. I hope some one takes a hit for this somehow in the pocket books. I am a paying customer so I have earned the right to complain! So I will!
Cons: Poor quality, Not high def, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed and Unhappy

I needed a phone which would run all of the applications which I have come to rely upon. After researching for three months, I purchased this device and have been disappointed with almost every facet of it. The lack of upgrade to the latest Operating System makes what should be the finest phone on the market an also-ran, as the applications which I need to use on a daily basis are unavailable due to the lack of the features provided in the latest Operating System. At the debut of this phone, it was advertised and promoted as being "upgradeable" to the latest Operating System, yet there has been no word as to when this phone will be updated. I have to sadly admit that, if the update to the latest Operating System is no made available soon, I will have to purchase another phone.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, no updates, keys stick when typing, plasticky feel and lack of build quality, battery life poor
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Samsung Epic 4G...Amazing phone!

Whether you're a casual cell phone user, or a die-hard tech guru, the Samsung Epic 4G is the perfect phone for you!
The 1 GHz Hummingbird processor is one of the fastest chips on the market, and drives the Andriod OS with ease. This outfit is capable of multitasking and runs graphic-intensive applications without a hitch.
OS interface is very attractive and clean—extremely user-friendly!
I personally switched from a different carrier and OS, to the Andriod OS, and the transition was seamless.
For the price, you can't beat the quality and features you get when purchasing the Epic 4G. If your interests are in still photography and videos, the built-in camera (5MP/720p) will prove to be more than satisfactory.
Actual battery life per charge is much less than advertised, even with most wireless and GPS features turned off. If you're a gamer and use the phone off a Wi-Fi network, don't expect more than a few hours of runtime before you need to plug the unit back in the wall.
Factory battery manages well when phone is in 4G mode, but not so much with GPS enabled. It's recommended to keep the GPS feature turned off unless you desperately need it. Personally, I get one full day of runtime from the factory battery. I use the device moderately (a few calls per day and a decent amount of gaming involving 3D graphics).
When all is said and done, the stock battery for the Epic is average compared to other devices out there.
It's important to note that Google released the new Andriod 2.2 OS (Froyo) for this device yesterday (February 21). It's recommended to upgrade ASAP to benefit from all of the phone's features. The update can be downloaded anytime from this website. Over-the-air updates will roll-out in the coming weeks.
Overall, this is one of the best phones on the market, and in my opinion, crushes the iPhone!
Cons: slide-out keyboard shifts when holding the phone, battery life (up-time per charge)
I would recommend this to a friend!

One of the worst phones ever owned

I bought this phone in Jan 2011 with an expectation of the software upgrade to Android 2.2. Finally was able to do that from Samsung website. The trouble started then onwards. Camera is not able to keep the pictures, Samsung media hub not able to keep the rented media, backup apps not keeping the backups. I should have purchases Evo instead of this one.
