I have owned the Samsung Epic for 18 months and it has been the best phone I have ever had. I love the big screen and excellent display. Makes watching movies and playing games a pleasure. The slide out qwerty is great. I don't use it alot because swype works so well but it is very handy at times when I need to see the full screen as I type. Only con I have is the weight. It's a little heavy but that is due to the slide out keyboard so I can stand the weight to have that. The camera is amazing. Takes better pics than my expensive point and click. If your considering a new phone you can't lose with this one.
I have been buying Samsung products since my second cell phone an sph-900a. Every phone I've had since has been Samsung. Even with the iPhone craze I still rely on the great products from Samsung. It is beautiful, such a crisp, clean look, and the picture blew all the others away. I will always be loyal to Samsung because of the quality of all of their products.
I got the double battery shortly after getting the phone to make it through a day of usage. But after the last update from Sprint, the phone has incredible battery life. I believe it is the update, but I also uninstalled all my apps that were not necessary, Angry Birds and other games, to make this my business only phone. Now I can get 2-2.5 days per charge. I really enjoy the phone performance and web browsing performance via WiFi. 3G in my area is OK, but no 4G in Phoenix, yet, or ever as from what I have been reading in blogs and news. I am looking to upgrade to Galaxy 3 or 3d when it comes available.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, performance, batter life
Cons: Too big, battery life in beginning, no 4g in my area
I would recommend this to a friend!

The best and worst phone I have ever owned.

The Samsung Epic is truly an epic phone. It has been one of the smartest smart phones I have ever owned and used, when it works. It is more than capable, and in fact excels, at playing videos, playing music, viewing images, and running apps. It isn't just a phone for someone trying to be organized, but its a phone for those trying to get the most out of their pocket entertainment as well. Its display is phenomenal. It has an adequate brightness and views well both indoors and out. Its sound is fantastic. I used to use other media players, but this one preformed so well that it became my primary device for listening to music and watching movies on the go. I love the slide out keyboard on this phone. It isn't bulky, awkward, or obtrusive. It is convenient, efficient, and perfect for someone who has mammoth thumbs like I do. I usually don't have any problems with the touch screen. If I do, its fixed by putting the display asleep and then reactivating it.
But, this phone is not without its cons. The battery life is deplorable. Although the phone is one of the most capable in its ability to handle media, I rarely get to use it to its fullest capacity because of its short battery life. I can't expect to be entertained in a waiting room or at a dreary dinner and have much charge left for regular use. This phone is also the most unstable phone I have ever used. At one point, approximately 4 months after regular use, this phone decided to stop functioning. It would get to the waiting screen and freeze. It ultimately had to be replaced. Later on, it had to be replaced because of a user error (I "dropped" it). The replacement phone kept restarting, freezing, and crashing. It also had to be replaced.
This phone wasn't just a pain for me to use. Every other person that I know that has used this phone has been displeased with it. Their complaints have been anything from short battery life, to numerous replacements. Other owners and myself have compared this model to other phones from the same service provider and it has had (sometimes substantially) less reception.
I love this phone when it works, but its hassles have driven me insane. I would definitely NOT recommend this phone.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, battery life, unstable
