Good Phone, Great Screen, Bad Battery...

For the most part, I have really enjoyed my Galaxy S Epic phone. The screen has been an outstanding physical experience and the slide out keyboard makes me much more productive than the touchscreen keyboard...
The Sprint release of Froyo made this very stable and I am days away from Gingerbread (FINALLY) ... the software has been stable when I have kept it simple and not loaded to many apps on the phone (which is against my nature).
My biggest complaint is battery usage. I have turned the screen down to minimal brightness (which is still outstanding) and I continue to have problems for my 6 months of owning this... I have turned off GPS and minimized other services but what is the point of "Dumbing" it down if it is suppose to be "Smart". Sprint has given me suggestions but nothing seems to work. When the phone is clean it is ok but as soon as you start loading apps, it burns down the battery. I use Task Killers and all kinds of tools but to success.... just keep it on the charger when I am near a power source.
Also, issues with processor lock-up when certain apps seem to be loaded...
But if you can keep it simple and only load 10 apps to supplement your interest, you will have a great phone with good call quality and wireless connections and pretty nice hardware... I will probably bypass the newer model (S2) as it does not have a slider which is great for all of the texting and work email i do on the fly...
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, good sliding keyboard, bluetooth connection quality
Cons: battery, processor lockup, sprint software update lag time
I would recommend this to a friend!

I had some issues with Samsung phones in the past, but I am very impressed with this model. The screen is responsive and bright, which is nice when I need to take care of business in the sun.
The Android 2.2 update was nice, but I'm so glad that they updated to Gingerbread. This run a bit smoother, and I noticed the screen was a bit more responsive.
The con is the single core processor is slow, but its manageable and much better than a lot of other phones out there during its release.
I got this specific model for the keyboard, but after using it for some time, I don't really need it. Between Swype (from 2.3) and the responsive screen, I rarely use it now.
Overall, very satisfied with the phone, and will continue to use their Galaxy S line.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: single core processor, performance
I would recommend this to a friend!
