The Epic is an acceptable phone, if you don't need battery life, and if you never want an OS update.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, battery life limited, never receives updated os still running 2.1
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love what it promised to do, but unfortunatley, it hasn't delivered on those "Promises".

I think most Power-users will agree with my assessment of the Epic 4G. By power-user, I mean one who uses (or attempts to use) most, if not all the touted features of the phone.
I've been very disappointed in this phone. I trade from a Palm Pre', and had high hopes. It does perform much better than the Palm, but the poor reliability at the time of needing its touted features has left me frustrated over and over again. Poor GPS reception, (have to turn the phone off and on to get it to work). Very Slow upload/download speeds, (regardless if in 4g or 3g). Rarely will re-connect to known bluetooth devices. (have to reset the phone).
..and more.
This phone, when working is great. As stated, and much to my disappointment, it only works well (and does what it is supposed to), when it's charging.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations, not reliable when needed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Some Good/Some Not So Good

I've had this phone for three months. At first I hated this Epic 4G! My old phone battery would no longer hold a charge so I was forced to buy a new phone. I only wanted to receive/send calls and text messages. I did not want a hand-held computer! However, I discovered Navigation that speaks to me when I was on vacation in an area I had never been before. Even though this phone is so much larger than my previous one, doesn't come in pink and battery management requires forethought, I am happy with my selection. I do wish the volume and brightness controls would stop setting themselves.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Too big
I would recommend this to a friend!

If your looking for a good android phone at a cheap price, the Epic 4g is right for you. I owned this phone for quite sometime, and it was always a good phone, very few problems with it, and the performance was wonderful. Battery life was also fairly decent (For an Android phone)
