I love the phone. The Epic is very well equiped. But the only thing I don't like is, the Epic is ALWAYS the last to get O/S software updates. IF it even gets it. But other then that I love my phone. I was big on Blackberry till meet the epic. The Phone is truely EPIC!!!!!!!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: last to get o/s software updates, not very durable, longer battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Updates
on October 26, 2011

Great phone, however the lack of updates is really annoying. I see other companies offering higher level Android updates to phone and then Apple updates OS to phones all the time, and here I am with an expensive product that I felt would get more support and I am left behind.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable
Cons: lack of updates
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought the Epic 4G because it was almost the only Sprint phone with a keyboard, 4G and tethering / hotspot.
I should make it clear that some of my gripes are really Android gripes, but overall I really hate the phone, even in its pretty case. So here goes:
1) I tend to put my pinky over the microphone hole (i.e. the microphone is badly placed, 2) you can't charge it while it's in a case or holster, because the power connector is covered up, 3) I had to reboot today because the ringer volume was very low, making me miss calls, 4) multiple bluetooth problems: a) the voice control takes more steps than on Windows Phone 6.1, b) ALL sound goes through the bluetooth, so I have to keep turning my earpiece on and off, c) wouldn't pair at all with my favorite earpiece, 5) no built-in sync program for Outlook - the app I found then cleared all categories from my Outlook contacts (should I be thankful that they weren't actually deleted!), 6) the built-in browser doesn't have a "WAP"-like function to make full size websites easier to view. 7) some of the buttons are directly across from each other, so it's hard to press the power button without also pressing the volume up / down buttons.
In all respects, operation take more motion and/or more steps than Windows Phone 6.1. I shoulda bought anything other than an Android phone.
Pros: big display, 4g
Cons: Did not meet expectations, poor ergonomics
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not bad for all the features, love that it has a qwerty keyboard. My only concern is the lack of timely updates to the new OS, and speaker volume could be a little better. Overall, it's a good phone. I'm glad I purchased it.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!
