i just bought this phone today, i recently had a my touch slide which was extremely slow. this phone out performs even the iphone 4 in my opinion. The phone is extremly easy to use with many unique widgets and different phone settings. it has 3 different touch screen keyboards preinstalled, i prefer the samsung key pad over swype and android. The camera is outstanding and he speed is astonishing, even on 3g it races past the other contenders. includes a built in app manager aplication to help imrove batery life. which is not the greatest but for what you can do with this phone its a pretty decent battery life. All in all this phone is SPECTACULAR. definitely gunna recommend to many people.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, great keyboard, great features
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have a love/hate relationship with this phone. I chose this phone over the HTC Evo based primarily on the display. This is the best part of the phone. The display is bright and impressive. I have problems with the phone locking up, loosing information or apps, and the battery life. I knew that the battery wouldn't be great when I bought it, but I had no ideal that I would need to keep it on a charger. I get less than 8 hours out of the battery at most. If I use the phone I get maybe 4 hours. I have had the battery die numerous times. I did check to see if an extended life battery was made, like for several other smart phones, but there is not one available. I would not purchase this phone again.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations, extremely poor battery
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased my Samsung Epic in September of last year. (2010). Six months is plenty of time to get to know a product and I can honestly say that this is a great phone. The processor is fast, the screen is vivid and bright. Even though it has not received the Android update to 2.2, Froyo, it still runs apps very quickly. The slide out keyboard, unique to this version of the Galaxy S line of phones, is good. The keys are spaced correctly, they snap back after being pressed and the layout is intuitive.
The only drawback with the phone is the handsome, large screen draws a lot of power. The stock 1500 mAh battery can die within three hours of heavy use. Make sure you get a spare battery and a separate charger so you can charge the spare battery while using the phone.
Pros: Durable, nice screen
Cons: battery life is too short
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cons: needs froyo, lack of update support

Bluetooth Incompatibility

The Epic 4G and the A2DP functionality with the Motorola Finiti and Jawbone Era bluetooth headsets is non-existent! The only way that I've found to make it work again, after it disconnects while charging or if I walk more than 33 feet from the phone, is to remove the battery in the Epic, then repair and reconnect the bluetooth headset(s). The Epic will NOT reconnect on its own and will NOT reconnect the A2DP function even if you press "Connect" in the Bluetooth submenu. The Finiti headset would not connect the A2DP unless the battery was removed from the Epic and the Finiti was "hard reset." The A2DP is a "standard" and should work with any phone that says it is A2DP compliant! The Epic makes a beautiful "live wallpaper" paperweight!
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations, a2dp non-compliant, feels flimsy when opening keyboard

this phone is great but as far as keeping up with firmware updates samsung and sprint both need to do a better job. The processor in this phone is fast and reliable but the radio antenna went out on my first phone and had to be replaced with a new phone (covered under manufacture warentee)
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, fast processor, 5.0 mp camera, full slide out qwerty keyboard
Cons: Too big, updates and patches
I would recommend this to a friend!

Too many problems with the Samsung Epic

I already had my first Samsung Epic 4G phone replaced by sprint and now my replacement Samsung Epic 4G is having problems. I don't think of it as 4G because the 4G rarely works. It might as well be the Samsung Epic 3G. The phone shuts off after sitting idle for 2 or 3 minutes and I have to remove the battery to get to power back up. And even though I'm a block away from a sprint tower I can only get on the Internet 50% of the time. Save your money and buy a different phone - stay away from the Samsung Epic 4G phone!
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, has internal probem with firmware, terrible for retrieving data
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The features are just what I needed. I can download & edit spreadsheets, update & email timesheets & deposit checks from anywhere. It has over 70 cds & countless pictures, videos & other media downloaded & still has plenty of memory available. I love my Samsung Epic 4G!!!
