Phone does everything you could ask of it. Great for calls, music, web, and Email.
Only minor drawbacks, battery life, FROYO, and the volume control still works when the screen is blank. This causes the volume to go up and down if you carry it in your pocket.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was very excited when i found out samsung was releasing this phone. Its feature list was amazing however im now on my 2nd one and working on my 3rd. the battery has given me nothing but problems and it freeze's allot. The battery lasts maybe 2 to 3 hrs if im lucky and thats just sitting in my pocket. the camera is not as good as i thought it would be being 5mp pictures comeout grainy and blurry sometimes. The home keys freeze on a regular basis and so does the pattern lock i have on it. my advice do plenty of reading before buying.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Too big, Did not meet expectations, freezes, lack of software
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love the concept, I dislike the end product.

I have had this from the day it came out. The first two units came defective and the third that I own now also has its problems (GPS is defective and horrible battery life). Sprint went ahead and gave me a new battery which really made no difference since it gives me about 6-8hrs of moderate use both voice and internet, the first unit I owned actually gave me a good 12hrs battery life with similar usage (Which i noticed Sprint is now selling additional battery packs to make up for flaws. Customer again gets it on the negative while Sprint/Samsung profit from the fail). Another big dislike is how Samsung keeps outing new phones and tablets with two updates ahead of my phone. Why has this product not updated to the 2.2 Froyo? as a matter of fact, if there are galaxy phones on Gingerbread, why not that? ... this mess is beyond me. I hope both Sprint and Samsung would come up with a strategy to actually service existing customers so maybe they can have them in the future because its definitely not happening now (Trying to get the phone to run 100% of its features and strength has been impossible to me.).
I love the concept of my phone and its features but the delivered product is an Epic FAIL.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, poor battery life, no 2.2 froyo update, poor gps service
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lost Opportunity

A great phone from the start with an excellent display but unfortunately Samsung has moved on and still doesn't show any sign of updating it to Froyo even though a lower tier phone (Intercept) has it. It does have good picture and video quality and decent performance. Audio for calls can be washed out at times and it's the only phone I've had that suffers from screen burn-in of the home screen icons. Overall, overpriced.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The touch screen is sometimes to sensitive, or just doesn't respond. The battery life is very horrible! The Epic 4 phones constantly freezes or reboots itself. Not able to do everything that I do with a desk top or laptop. Epic 4. And Flash player not compatible which is really frustrating not able to view videos because of this, very limited with the types of media the Epic 4 will play even had problems filling out a survey Samsung sent me. Epic 4 has a lot of positive aspects of a smartphone which works great, improving the above listed products and the operating system would assist in making this Epic 4 superior smart phone
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just not that happy

Having used a competitors phone for a year that was very satisfactory before "upgrading" to the Epic, I had high expectations for major benefits. Instead, I get terrible battery life (even with everything turned off), a GPS that is innacurate and a phone that is now several OS versions behind in support. Overall, I seriously regret this purchase and would not recommend this phone to anyone who has had experience with an Android phone that they really liked. If you are new to Android, this is a fine choice though.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, os upgrades, battery life, gps innacturate and slow
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Too many problems

The phone looks good and texting with swype is very fast. Android 2.2 is still not available. My GPS freezes and often prevents the phone from doing other tasks. There is lag when using the phone that results in pressing buttons unintentionally. This lag also keeps the phone from ending a call for about three seconds after pressing the "end" button. Battery life is not great, but the problem I have is the charge time. If you plan to use the phone away from a charger, two batteries are a must.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations, many problems and not updated to froyo
