This laptop delivers excellent quality and performance for home business use. It strikes a great balance between mid and high-end features, has an ideal size, and feels solidly built throughout.
Laptop itself is a good product for a reasonable price. A major problem was preloaded One Drive which automatically forced cloud backups into a very small 5GB storage, which when full almost immediately caused problems opening many files. Many people do not want to put their data in the cloud, encrypted or not, as they do not trust its privacy, or else, do not want to pay for a forced upgrade to a larger storage.
I had been using a slightly older 17" HP laptop but found it was getting heavy to carry to meetings , etc. as I age. But I still needed a good screen size. The HP OmniBook 7 Laptop AI 16t-ay000, 16" met the bill and was on sale when purchased. I used HP products for years and have never been disappointed!
The power cord plugs into a stupid spot that blocks the rest of the ports. The power cord itself is so stiff that when it's plugged in it forms a large loop and gets in the way of the mouse. The track pad is so large and near the keyboard that it gets hit when I type. These 3 things are very poor design. Other than that it's just a normal laptop.
Purchased during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale for a great price. Excellent performance with Intel Ultra 5 processor, 16 MB RAM and 1 TB solid state drive. The 16 inch screen has very good resolution. The laptop is solidly built with a good selection of ports and convenient keyboard with numerical key pad. Very little dfifference in weight compared to an OmniBook 5 with similar configuration.
I am very pleased with the general usage, fast and comfortable. However, when I set up my computer Microsoft took it over and I had problems with the one drive. I called HP support and was transferred several times, and much to my disappointment, no help was given.
Perfect size for me with great picture quality on the screen. Boots up quick and runs all my tabs and apps smoothly. Only complaint is the battery life-- I'll be running only Spotify and Google Docs, with brightness and volume on low but still only get so many hours out of it. Not sure what's eating up the battery as it's still brand new and these aren't energy intensive apps as far as I'm aware. Lightweight and slim, it fits anywhere I take it which is impressive given how big of a screen size it is.
