Hi I bough it for an upgrade. I had a $50 CAD D-link router before. Now I have this. It is so much better. Probably feels like 5 times better than the last router. The connection just feel so smooth and seamless. I don't know how but its much much faster. This is the real deal right here. Price might be high but it is so much worth it.

Set up was fairly easy and signal is strong and stable. Paired with existing wifi router to get whole home coverage. Would recommend particularly as part of a mesh set up.

I bought my first one based on the other reviews. Home took up was painless and worked right away. The speed and connectivity was excellent. I was expecting more instructions however the setup was so easy that you didn't need a monster book. Because it is mesh enabled I went back and bought another one. We have absolutely no dead spots in the house now and have perfect connections. The hook up was easy, the app controls everything, the speed is noticeable, and the mesh integration was no problem. Absolutely no problems, or complaints at all.

ASUS AX5400 Router

I lucked in and got this on sale. I needed a router with a little more power as I was having spotty connections with the new laptop one floor down. Hooked this up and followed the setup with separate login and passwords for both bands. I had checked the signal strength before and after and gained about 6db with the new router so no longer have dropped connections. You can use an app on your cell to check signal strength for both bands.

RGB Stealth Jet

I was using my ISP modem/router in my apartment until I found myself being de-authenticated by a script kiddie neighbour.
I knew the vulnerability was present; prior to the event and planned to upgrade anyway. I am glad I purchased it due to the security granularity and automation.
Pros: - Impressive range - Common DDOS & DOS Protection and Deauth Protection - USB 3.0 for making a NAS (File Sharing Center) for all devices and backups for photos on your phone or laptop files to be remotely accessible from out of the house stored on a External HDD/SSD. - Gamer RGB and design makes it a nice center piece in your office/living room. (Side note: It's not too bright either, makes a good night light)
I got it on sale for 279.00$. Honestly, if it were 350$(Before tax) I would have gone with the 200$ Asus.
The router, the configurability of its settings, range, ect are all awesome!
However it does present some issues with smart-home integrations. Google home devices in particular would frequently lose connections. This required following a guide I dug up on an asus forum on how to disable specific settings in order to allow the google homes to work. Unfortunately this includes AX Wifi for whatever band your google devices are on. Currently using AX-5GHz and AC-2.5GHz.
The limitations were frustrating as an adn

Don't believe the advertising

I used Asus routers in the past and decided to replace my current router, not an Asus, with the Asus AX5400 only because of the sale price. I was hoping to help increase the speed and coverage of my network on both bands. The coverage definitely improved on the 2.4G but the 5G is a lot of hype and only works if you are very close to the router, like the same room less than ten feet away. I did not notice any increase in speed on the ethernet lines from my older less powerful router which is disappointing. When you are buying a router don't get sucked in by the 5g WIFI because the coverage is terrible and none of the manufacturers tell you the truth about it in the advertising. If I have to have the router in the same room as my device to use the 5 G I might as well use an ethernet cable. Asus is a good router but basically they all are so base your decision on price and coverage of the 2.4G because no one has solved the issue of 5G coverage and all manufacturers need to be honest about that and stop hyping 5G leading the consumer to believe it will actually provide coverage throughout their house.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good, fast modem, pdf operating manual inadequate

I bought two of these WiFi 6 modems to operate in wireless MESH mode through a reinforced concrete wall (rebar steel in concrete walls tends to shield electronic signals). My previous wireless set-up was "n" speed (WiFi 4) and very slow. Setting up the two ASUS modems was relatively straightforward but for details one has to rely on searching through the online support documents rather than the downloaded pdf manual. Once found the online instructions are quite good. Once set up the speed gain of the WiFi 6 signal was worth the cost.
These are basically gaming routers though I don't use them for that. The price was right. The whole front of the modem is lit by what is called Aura light which undulates in various selectable patterns, presumably to appeal to gamers. The light is too bright and the undulating patterns are disconcerting. The Aura can be turned off but this also turns off 4 tiny, inoffensive LEDs indicating the operating readiness of the modem, which is useful. I resorted to taping over the Aura lighting with black electrical tape. The Aura light is cold so there is no heat problem. My recommendation is conditional on getting a good deal.
