Purchased this router because the one given to me from my service provider wasn't cutting it. This router touches all four corners of my 3000 sq. ft house and speeds are great. Router also looks very cool with the RGB lights. Router also comes with two years of warranty from the manufacturer which is great.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fantastic Router

Purchased this router because my service providers router was extremely weak. Full coverage in a 1300 sq/ft home very happy with the feature set including the mesh network and 2.4GHz / 5GHz settings. This thing pushes serious speeds. Bonus is the RGB lighting that can be controller though the associated APP. I can then match the lighting of the router to the back lighting in my home theatre set up. 2 year warranty included is a plus for sure. I would definitely recommend this product especially when it’s on sale.

Reason I changed my old router to this one is due the the problem of interruptions on having two PC's running VPN simultaneously, with wired connection on one of them. My old setup was using the modem built-in wireless N router. Everything worked fine except the VPN interruptions. The speed at that time was around 50Mps download and 10Mps upload running wifi 5 on an internet service of 75Mps/10Mps plan. After using this RT-AX82U on the same internet plan and disable the modem built-in router, the speed at the same spot running wifi 5 (since my PC doesn't support wifi 6), the speed boosted up to 90Mps download and 10Mps upload, even faster than my plan supposed to have! And most importantly, the dual VPN connections problem solved. I put the wired connection PC on its "game LAN port" and everything runs smoothly even with TV streaming. Coverage is also much better. Excellent router and highly recommended!

An ASUS Router that works well

Only had this router for a week now, but loving the performance. Naturally, only my most modern devices benefit from Wifi6 (801.11AX) but the throughput is wonderful on the AC bands too. Have over 30 devices connected simultaneously without issue.
Plus side, the ability to name and assign custom photo/icons to each device connected in the ADMIN panel makes identifying troublesome network issues a breeze. In my experiences, 90% of routers have similar feature but usually fail to save or remember anything very well. Quite happy with my purchase!

Terrible router

This router took an update after owning it for two weeks, After the update my sonos speaker system did not work. I can not re install them wirelessly
Also the wan light on the router works intermittently.
Asus customer service while helpful did not resolve the problem.

It is rather annoying when you turn off the coloured lights it also turns of the indicator lights.
I would not recommend this router it has been nothing but problems. I will be returning the router

Excellent speed and coverage

The router from my ISP is not stable and short ranged. After deploying this router, the signal immediately strengthened and stabilized. The coverage is also very good, almost every corner of the house is covered.

QOS does not work

I bought this router to use the QOS to prioritize gaming but all three modes available under QOS did not work at all or worked improperly. The adaptive mode never detected my games while the other modes simply throttled everything down to the same speed at all time regardless of the manual priorities set.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
