Works fine but the hotplate lost its paint

This was a Christmas gift and after just three months of use the hotplate lost its paint/color. This is a huge disappointment and I'm wondering if this is standard expectation.

I purchased this for my office where we have a number of coffee drinkers so we typically make at least 3 pots a day, 5 days a week. The coffee is great and I really like the removable reservoir so it's easy to fill from our water cooler. I also really like that it times how long the coffee has been sitting there. It's a nice feature. My only issue is that the heating dish that keeps the coffee hot has rusted. We've had the coffee maker for over a year. If it wasn't for the rusting, I would not have to replace it.

I have had this coffee pot for about 2-3 months. I like the feature to make a smaller amount of coffee 1-4 cup feature. The only drawback is that choosing my selections can be difficult to get what I want. It has taken us almost this entire time to get it to the selection we want without having difficulty. It makes great coffee, and the features are nice, as is the ease of cleaning it....

The only problem I'm having is the front door where the coffee goes always pops open when the coffee is being made ,I have tried everything by adjusting the basket to closing the front door but nothing works. Also when this happenes there is a lot of steam on the unit. Not sure if this is a common problem.
