I bought this item back in Oct. 2013, and I love it. The only thing was that the plastic rim came apart from the glass part of the carafe. I called Kitchenaid ,told them what happened and they replaced the carafe with a new one. Other than that I think it is great.

I really like the extra capacity of the carafe. I also find that being able to determine the strength of the coffee brew helpful.

We saw this and knew instantly that we'd love it. The main reason was the ease of filling it via the removable tank. And it's beautiful. The only problem we ever had was a leaky seal around the plastic rim of the glass carafe...which was replaced with the newer carafe. They have since changed the carafe on this model so that the new ones don't have the 'plastic' ring glued to the rim of carafe. So don't hesitate buy. Just REMEMBER to "make sure" that your water reservoir is fully "seated" and is resting straight up against the coffee maker.....if its tilted out or not fully seated you might get water all over your counter... #it happened to us once :-# We've had ours for 2 1/2 years and love it so much that last November we bought a 2nd one for the RV.
