Santa present for my 6 year old son

We love legos over here. We have avoided the kits that are over 300 pieces just cause I wasnt sure he was ready for them yet. He flew through this kit with 801 pieces. The quality is great, the details - spot on, the magic - real. Love all the little details of the train. Great product. Would recommend for any Harry Potter fans!

Amazing product, loved seeing one of the great parts of Harry Potter in Lego form finally. It was fun to build and see all the little details. Loved the details on the train. Great set. Great assortment of Minifigures. The new dementor Minifigures are great with all the details, estatic to finally get my hands on it. Also train is helpful for Lego cities.

The best version

I am writing this review after the Hogwarts Express Collector's edition 76405 is available for purchase and many reviews are already on Youtube. This version of the Hogwarts Express is the better of the two from a building experience and play-ability stand point. The building is short enough that you see exactly what you are building and it fits within the set. Also it is very satisfactory to have big parts done in a reasonable amount of time (for a 6 yo you have a wagon or a platform in less than 1 hour). The number of minifigures is very good and reflects well the 3rd movie, which make this set very playable for kids. Although it is a Harry Potter set, you will strike double or triple use with the train that can be used in play outside the HP world.
I strongly recommend this set before it is discontinued.

All aboard an amazing Lego Set!

As soon as my son saw this Lego set, he was very excited about it. The Minifigures are fantastic. Remus Lupin with a new hairpiece and alternate, detailed face was his favorite mini figure out of the bunch, but he also really appreciated that Lego took the time to add a trolley witch, which also turned out great. My son enjoyed getting the new Dementor, who was also very detailed, with a tattered cape, ghoul bottom-piece, new torso print, and face expression. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were expected in the set, and were also executed well in their 'muggle' clothes. He really enjoyed the play feature in which a minifig carrying the trolley can magically appear on platform 9 and 3/4. The stickers in the set were done well. Most of all, of course, the best, and me and my son's favorite part of this set was the Hogwarts express itself. A fantastic improvement over the 2011 one, with more maneuverability, slickness, and just its general shape. There are a few things I must point out too, though. The platform 9 & 10 signs were put where a figure standing on the station wouldn't really see, and there is not much space for the Kings Cross platform itself. My son liked the staircases and clock, but did not really understand that tiny bit of platform on the left side. Might as well have extended that platform and made it into more muggle space. Another thing- he kind of wished that Lego could add a second train car, with seating. Finally, if you are looking to put power functions into this train, don't expect it to be easy. Anyways, this set is a must have for Harry Potter fans, Lego fans, and children who love locomotives.

All Aboard the Hogwarts Express!

When I first saw this set, and the price, I had to have it. Plus, I had never bought a LEGO train up until I bought this one, so I was really excited. And I have to say, I am extremely thrilled to own this set, so I will list the pros/cons:
PROS:
-incredible detail on the train, and I love how the side of the carriage can be taken off to place minifigures in there, and there's enough for four figures.
-the platform is very well detailed, from the newspaper stand to the magical door opening just like in the movies, and the staircase to place more figures
-minifigures are great, and a few of the torsos are usable for any minfigure you want
great price, although I paid 66, but 80 is still a great price considering this is a train, and train sets have more specialized pieces
CONS:
-no train tracks, would have been nice to include a few
-can't be motorized unless you customize it
-would have liked an extra Dementor and Sirius Black in the set as well
Overall, very pleased with this set, it's my second favorite Harry Potter set behind the Great Hall.

Pretty fun set

My boyfriend bought me the set for christmas. i’ve collected harry potter legos since the triwizzard tournament set, and collect the blind bag mini figures as well. building the set wasn’t hard, except for me totally struggling to build the locomotive about four times to the point where my boyfriend made me go to bed (pretty sad that he had to do that, since i’m 18) the platform area itself is the only downside. on the box tracks are shown, but are not included. i would love to have more train cars included or to be able to purchase separately. possibly for each house, since in the movies it is shown like that. otherwise, i loved it!
