We purchased this as a welcome back to school gift thinking it would be something fun to do to unwind after going back to school. She finished it in 2 days after school, so roughly 6 hours. It was a cool set and the beads feature is fun and she likes it! Would highly recommend this set!

Challenging but fun

For me, personally, this build wasn’t as simple as others have stated. But it was a fun build overall. There was a day that I was building the bottle and it kept falling apart in my hands. I had to put it aside and come back to it the next day. I basically had to rebuild the whole thing again. Tip: the sides of the bottle is best built when standing up on a flat surface. The stand also can be confusing if you’re not looking at the pictures really well when you’re putting things on. I did not expect it to be as big as it was when completed - but I still love it! I’d recommend it.

First Build in 15 years

This was my first build since I was 11/12 I am now 26 almost 27. It was a great way to get back into Legos! Since I’m not used to building Legos I had a little trouble but figured it out a couple minutes later. Anyway if you’re just getting in or back into Legos I definitely recommend this product.

Message in a bottle

It’s a ship in a bottle made of LEGO’s! The details are so clever. I love how the ship sets on the clear blue water- it’s my favorite detail. It goes well with my nautical decorations. The building instructions are just as detailed and beautiful as the end result.
My family loves to slip messages in the bottle to each other. When my nephews visit there is always a note from them. So when LEGO brought this build back I bought one for each of them. This ship in a bottle LEGO set is part of our family and will be here to share our messages throughout life.

I love LEGO, and I’ve always wanted to try building a ship in a bottle...this is the perfect mashup! It really is a great set. It’s got some challenges, but nothing too advanced. It will look awesome as a display and it’s already a conversation piece. This is not a set with playability, but it does inspire creativity.

Horrible set

My son has done many lego sets and this is by far the worst out of all. It’s very fragile the pieces keep breaking easily and it had missing pieces too.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poorly Designed

I agree with another reviewer, this model looked intriguing but the flimsy design lead to multiple rebuilds and constant repairs. My husband enjoys watching my builds but this time he was told not to go NEAR my desk for fear it get jostled and dismantle. I realize that Lego uses standard brick designs, but the masts have so little "wiggle room" in the bottle construction that one finger twitch destroys the boat. I love the fan design program, but the production team needs to pay more attention.

Always a nice decoration in my home

I m glad this retired set is back. This set is a great ideas. It inspired me to swap out the ship to something else on day one. This set had a solid foundation with the bottle for me to fit anything inside it - the sky is the limit.
Liked:
- Cool printed bricks, no sticker
- Amazing details on the bottle holder with compass and mini-globes
- Awesome bottle design
- Nice decoration to fit anywhere in the house

Disliked:
- Clear glass pieces were not in the individual package and they just throw in the box, they might get scratches easily during transportation (Mine were ok condition, but not perfect.)
- Ship design can be more detailed. It would be nice if an alternative build for the ship.
- Need to get more trans-blue rounds to fill up the seawater in the bottle.
- Feel like this more likely an age 16+ set. Since this set is more for display, but not very playable with hands-on. My friend decided to pick up my displaying bottle to have a look, but the bottle fall apart and he dropped it on the floor. Luckily this is a LEGO set, we rebuilt it together.
