confusing

Not intuitive hold programming-

Our thermostat did not respond to our set point temperature. Out of desperation when it continued to heat the house we turned to You Tube and found out how to make it non programmable and then it finally shut the heat off. We are not sure if it was erroneously set on some sort of hold but it seems impossible on how to figure that out. Please help.

Can't even keep or reset time on the thermostat. Makes schedules a problem. If this is the best Honeywell has shut it down.

Automation and programing are lacking

I got stuck with this thermostat from my installer without the ability to replace it with something better like an Eco bee (Radio connection between devices). The biggest issue is that I cannot automate the temperature to match the discounts from my power company. Sleep, wake, home, away is not granular enough for me. A duke energy integration could be helpful (both eco bee and nest have this feature), but I would rather be able to schedule things like lowering the AC 30 minutes before peak pricing then bump it up when peak pricing starts.

Difficult battery replacement

Battery replacement is not intuitive, I almost broke the unit trying to get it off the wall. So I watched a YouTube video that said just pull it straight off the wall, it must have been a different model because when I tried that the bezel came off and I still couldn't change the batteries. All the videos were for different models and I couldn't see a model number without taking it off the wall, a catch 22 situation. Eventually I saw a "PRESS" area on the top, it was not easy to press but after struggling I found that I had to press and pull back to get the top of the unit to detach, it was still attached with 2 slots in the bottom. Pulling it back disconnected the tiny connector and the unit was removable. So now I could easily change the batteries and now that I have seen how it works, it is easier to operate. Luckily I didn't break it trying to get to the batteries. Now I had the Model Number: TH8110R1008 from the back of the unit, so I went to the Honeywell site for a Users Manual but there were none, only Installation Guides for a slew of thermostats with all different titles but not mine. I eventually found a Product Information sheet for my thermostat with instructions on how to change the batteries but what an uphill battle. After an extensive search, I eventually found a 72 page User Guide on reside.com.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Th Best Thermostat

This is the best thermostat that Honeywell has come up with. I have installed dozens of these thermostats and have not had one failure.
It appears that several (many) people on this page have had issues with the thermostat which are relate to improper set up or programming. This product as well as most items related to an HVAC system are not DIY items.
Reading over the issues that others have had only proves that to be true. This product is not like screwing in a light bulb. In order to maximize efficiency of your HVAC system, you need to hire a professional who know what he/she is doing to set it up correctly for your type of system. Not doing so will cost you more in inefficiency and possible damage to your HVAC system.
So please do yourself a favor and get it done right the first time and avoid the frustration. The money you think you are saving will cost you more in the long run.

Overcooling feature

Good thermostat except for one problem. We live in a 2nd floor Condo. When the A/C set temp is reached the unit continues to run for 2 to 4 hours continuously. To stop the overcool I set the temp up 2 to 3 degrees higher and hit temporary hold. Wait a few minutes and cancel hold. Then the A/C goes into normal cooling cycles. Not very efficient.

Completely Unsatisfied with this thermostat

I purchased the Vision Pro 8000 with RedLink a month ago along with the RedLink adapter and the room temperature sensor which none of them work. I was told that the RedLink adapter would work in place of the C-wire, but it never worked (so I am returning both of them). As far as the thermostat, it’s just okay (probably because I can’t connect it to the RedLink adapter). I wish I had purchased the Emerson Sensi-lite thermostat instead, as it works (remotely) without the need for the C-wire.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
