Stop Aux Heat from Coming In Unnecessarily

To RSIT: I had the same problem. Even when the thermostat called for one degree of rise and it was warm outside, the thermostat used Aux Heat, at unneeded expense. It's a programming issue. I see by your photo that you have an outside temp sensor, which is needed to remedy this issue. This is how to fix it: In your installer programming, there is an Aux Heat Lockout setting. Input 40 degrees. That will prevent Aux Heat from coming in above that outdoor temp. The result is that the thermostat will have a heating cycle with normal recovery and no Aux Heat. Below 40 degrees outside, you will still have Aux Heat supplement the heating.

Not a user friendly!

Not easy to program it. Just turned to this page to find the manual to program it. First time in 60 years I need a manual to program a thermostat. I did not purchase this crap. It came with the Condo Unit I bought.

Equipment failure-loss of communication

Six months old - TH8110R stopped communicating with the EIM, THM5421R. EIM will no longer connect with the thermostat. Thermostat shows No device connected. Add device message - "24VAC required for RedLINK". What do I need to do to get this accomplished and get device connected and communicating? HVAC repair man is at a loss.

Perfect For Our Needs

2 Thermostats / 2 Indoor sensors / 1 outdoor sensor
Our original thermostats were very poorly placed.
I wanted remote sensor functionality without the worries of having our devices exposed to the Internet and Google or Amazon's invasive data collection.
Setup is straightforward and relatively easy, IF you have some basic understanding of the equipment and the terminology. These ARE dealer grade thermostats, after all. So if you don't know what you're doing call a pro. Don't blame Honeywell for not being YOUproof.
Bottom line - A great solution for non-web based wireless thermostat relocation.
If they offered a Redlink handheld remote, that would be perfect!

Runs even when the temperature has been reached

This was installed in April along with a new AC unit. I have repeatedly set the temperature for example to 73, the thermostat shows it’s only 71 and the unit continues to run. My old thermostat would immediately turn the unit off when the setpoint was above the actual thermostat reading. Eventually the unit will turn off but I feel like it is running constantly and it is not even hot yet.

Redlink Never Works and Customer Service Can't Fix

The Redlink never works on my Thermostat. I've called customer service and we got it working for five minutes after an hour on the phone. I've reset my WIFI (all other WIFI works) and it also only works for five minutes.

Almost killed me and my family.

This absolute piece of trash disconnected itself for no reason at all in the middle of the night during a cold snap with -50F wind chill and would not reconnect no matter what I did, so my family had to spend the entire weekend sitting in the car with the heat running and no water, because I had to shut off the water main to prevent my pipes from bursting. I would give less than one star if I could, and I may be looking into filing a lawsuit against Honeywell.
