I purchased the Dyson Airwrap when it first came out several years ago. I gave mine away because it was a pain to use for curls. This new one is a game changer. I am keeping this one and buying another as a gift to my daughter. Way to improve Dyson!

Curls Don't Last
on December 14, 2022
Posted by: Trusa
It took so long to style my thick hair, but somehow I made it. I was excited and threw away the package and box. But all curls are gone the next morning, and I contacted the support to ask how to return the item w/o the package - and the website and the AI robot for the chat and call center just forwarding my request around and nobody has reached me back. I will take the product to the store... Too bad it didn't work for my thick hair. I love their vacuum cleaner and regular hairdryer though.

Hi, this is Summer with Dyson. We're so sorry to hear that you were not satisfied the next day after using the Dyson Airwrap. The styler is intended to be used for the same day as needed. When you do go to sleep, there are many factors that will come in to play that will cause the curls to drop. For thicker hair, we do advise that you take smaller sections of your hair to curl. Because the curls lasted the entire day, it is working as intended. For further assistance, please feel free to contact us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com.
Best wishes, Summer Dyson Customer Support

Overall upgrade with a major packaging downgrade.
on November 27, 2022

First of all, I bought this Dyson with my own money and received no compensation for this review. This is my genuine thoughts, opinions, and experience with the upgraded device.
So I've had the gen 1 Airwrap for about two years and used it and loved it so I have experience with the Airwrap. Honestly, the swapping for curling wasn't a huge thing for me but I thought it might be nice to save a little time. Here's a comprehensive review and comparison for any on the fence to upgrade.
Packaging:
LOVE the color of the new one, it's vibrant and great. The nesting lid on the bottom is a nice touch, though I prefer the flip top magnetic lid from Gen 1 still. My main complaint and the reason for the 4 stars is the interior of the case is CHEAP now. Gen 1 had a nice, felt lined interior and the dividers were sturdy. This new one has some black cardboard. The tray that holds the Airwrap base is the cardboard material too. It just really screams cheap, and it's so disappointing because the last one was so nice. The felt material in gen 1 did get some scratches, but it wasn't too noticeable and I much prefer it to this. I tried to just swap all the components to my old case because I truly loathe the inside of this one but they don't fit as comfortably. Speaking of not fitting -- I really don't like having to stack my curling rods sideways next to and on top of other attachments. The layout leaves much to be desired and the build quality of the interior is poor especially for a luxury item. You're paying a premium, and the inside felt anything but premium.
The travel pouch is incredibly nice in both style and apparent substance, though I haven't used it yet so can't review that fully.
The Airwrap & Attachments:
So if you've used the Gen 1 the base is functionally the same. I don't notice any difference in the heating/cooling times.
The attachments are where it gets tricky. If you're used to swapping barrels it's going to take some time to adjust to turning the cool touch knob. I'm going on 2 weeks and I still catch myself trying to pop the attachment off. Figuring out which direction it's curling now is a little bit harder for my brain to wrap around but nothing major. I primarily use the curling barrels but I did test all the attachments before writing the review. The flat brushes and round brush are functionally the same/similar though I do feel like the flat brushes seemed to direct the air for less flyaways than gen 1. The smoothing/flyaways attachment is very confusing with the different knobs/settings, I've read about it and watched some videos and still struggle. The one I have for my hairdryer works perfectly and is comparatively simple. But if you don't have a Dyson hairdryer and wanted this to be an all-in-one alternative, you'll definitely want to take some time learning this attachment because when it works it is great!
I also miss my 0.8 inch curling attachment, I realize you can purchase this separately but I haven't seen it available in this LE rose gold color which is really disappointing because I do like my sets to match so I hope Dyson does consider releasing the narrower barrel in this color soon.
Overall, I’d recommend the new Dyson (or the upgrade set if you want to keep your nicer case!) but it’s hard to overlook how the interior of this new model really suffered a quality downgrade.

What we can do with stains?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hello!
Hello! Can I ask you please, how to remove the stains from the new dyson airwrap, colour vinca blue and rose? I have some stains on one of the attachments and it is very upsetting that on this colour remain stains.
Thank you in advance!

Hello Chelsea, this is Kelly with Dyson. You may notice some staining on the finish of your Vinca Blue Airwrap - this is called by the lubricant oil in the manufacturing process. This oil is used to ensure that seals are seated correctly. You can remove these with a rubber eraser of you can also use pre-packaged 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes to remove that stain. If we can help with anything else, please get in touch with us at askdysonUS@dyson.com.

It Lives Up to the Hype!

I was nervous to purchase this product given the high dollar price tag and the fact that some reviews say the curls don’t hold well, but I had to give it a try - and in my favorite colors! I was originally going to purchase a competitors styler for the cheaper price but knew it would leave me wanting this more and that I’d end up eventually getting this anyways so I finally did. I purchased the long barrel version because I plan to keep growing my hair and I’m glad I did because it covers a much larger surface area at a time. I have a lot of naturally wavy hair that falls a few inches past my shoulders, but it’s very fine and doesn’t usually hold any kind of heat style very well. After years of trying to force my hair to do what I wanted it to do I gave up because it just wasn’t worth the time and effort anymore. This air wrap creates styles that hold wonderfully for me! It is also much faster than using a regular dryer and curling iron. I was wowed! The 1.2 inch barrel makes bouncy wavy curls that are in style right now which I love, and the 1.6 inch barrel makes my hair look more like a slightly curly blowout which I also love. I look forward to purchasing the .8 inch barrel for a tighter curl! The round brush I use for my side bangs and it gives them so much volume! The other brushes are great for smoothing at the beginning and the dryer piece really does hide your frizz and reduce drying time. Since my hair is wavy I use the dryer after it air drys about 15% to get it to 85-90% dry which I’ve found has given me the best and quickest results. I recommend using volume mouse and spray on the roots and sea salt spray on curls to create texture and hold. When considering this purchase I watched a LOT of reviews and tutorials which I think really helped lessen my learning curve when starting to use the air wrap. I had no issues when using this product the first time. I’m happy to have finally found a product that works for my hair and to be able to enjoy styling my hair again.

Exceeds expectations with no steep learning curve
on April 3, 2023

I hesitated on this purchase, not just because of the price, but because of the reviews I saw that talked about a “steep learning curve” for this product, how hard it is to learn to use it the right way and get the results you want, how the smoothing brushes and round brush don’t work as expected, how long hair takes to style, and how curls drop within a couple of hours. These reviews put me off making such a big investment, so I opted instead for the supersonic hair dryer which got rave reviews and seemed pretty fool-proof to use. I LOVE the supersonic (reviewed separately) but couldn’t shake the idea of the Airwrap, especially as my daughter is now more often than not using my supersonic. I went ahead and purchased an Airwrap last month and it has now become my go-to. The dryer attachment dries my hair almost as fast as the supersonic. The smoothing brushes give me a soft blow out with just the right amount of body, and the round brush doesn’t tear or drag at my hair at all, just gives me a little extra curl at the ends. The 1.2 inch barrel is my go-to for more curls. I just use heat resistant hair spray, make sure to use the barrel when my hair is still at least 20 percent damp, and give each curl a good 15-20 seconds on the cool shot. I have ZERO skills when it comes to styling hair, so when I say that it took no more than 5 minutes to get the hang of this, that should mean something. Each style lasts into the next day, with minimal time required, and my hair feels soft and looks full and shiny. This morning I was in a rush to get to a meeting, and instead of just sticking my hair in a pony tail, I was able wash my hair, dry and style it with the Airwrap dryer and round brush and get out the door in 15 minutes. That is a game changer for someone like me who had basically given up on styling my hair because before the Dyson products it took me 45 minutes to blow dry with always unsatisfactory results. The only feature I can’t quite figure out how to get good results with is the flyaway functionality of the dryer, but that’s not a deal breaker. It is great to have the option of the Supersonic and the Airwrap, but the bottom line is that if I could only have one, I would choose the Airwrap - unless you really need a diffuser or have very thick hair, then I think you can rely on the hair drying attachment of the AirWrap to dry your hair almost as fast as the Supersonic. If it helps, my hair is chest length and fairly fine, prone to frizz, with a light natural curl. I can’t promise it will work as well for everyone, I just know it works for me. If it had dual voltage and I could take it overseas it would be perfect, but that’s not enough to ding it a star. It’s expensive, yes, but it can pretty much replace every hair styler and dryer you have, the attachments are so quick and easy to switch out that you can use 2 or 3 of them as you style to get exactly the look you want, and it gives great results without applying scorching heat like curlers or straighteners in a fraction of the time needed with any other tool or method. Just wish I could have afforded one years ago….

I love this styler. The color is beautiful. The way it works. I thought it was going to take me long to learn how to use it but it’s very easy to understand and it works wonderful. Doesn’t take me long to dry my hair about 80% and then style it. Highly recommend, such a great product. Has everything you need❤️❤️

Honestly its just not suited for thin or fine hair. Tried all of the tricks I could find out there. I so wanted to love it. Also took 3 times longer than other stylers, still couldn't get it hol 10 minutes
