Much Improved from First Version

I purchased the Dyson Airwrap when it first came out several years ago. I gave mine away because it was a pain to use for curls. This new one is a game changer. I am keeping this one and buying another as a gift to my daughter. Way to improve Dyson!

I have held off on buying an Airwrap for years. First because of the price point, then because it was unavailable for so long. I finally decided to buy the newer model when available because Dyson changed a few things I read complaints about, including longer barrels and multi-directional airflow (no more changing wands when you switch sides).
I was, at first, really pleased with the styler. The machine is very quiet, easy to use, and much healthier for use on long hair if you use higher-heat irons. However, I noticed a learning curve in using the attachments.
I have been a hairdresser for over 20 years and am willing to learn new technology, but I cannot get the styler to hold a curl in my hair for more than a few minutes. I have tried it on other people and found that if your hair has texture or is medium to short in length, I can get it to work great! My hair is long, straight, and has a medium thickness. Unfortunately, the Airwrap just is not made for me. I plan to keep trying because I've only had it for two weeks, but I am unimpressed so far.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Crimped my hair

I loved the old model of the airwrap and was so excited to get this new model but the shape of the re-engineered barrels now leaves a crimp mark on my hair when I curl it. I've tried both sized barrels and they both have the same protrusion that leaves an obvious crimp mark. I sadly had to return.

The design and shape of the barrels did not change; rather, we make a change to the tip of the barrel, which now is a cool-tip that you can turn to control the direction of the airflow, and thereby change the direction of the curl in your hair. Already my hair is noticeably softer and healthier without the heat tools I used to use. It's hard to learn how to do it but watch the video tutorials and it helps. Only downside is if you have any wrist pain the tool is heavy to use.

Skeptical at first

I am in full agreement with fellow Dyson Airwrap owners. This is a game changing, versatile hair tool. I was skeptical when Dyson launched their v1 tool - can you really get salon level results at home? Especially for women (like me) who are complete newbies at this? And the number of attachments and having to swap in and out was overwhelming.
Prior to this tool, I only could dry and straighten my hair. Beachy waves? Bouncy curls? hair with volume? I had to go to a salon for a blowout. After hearing positive reviews from my friends and a recommendation from my hair stylist, I purchased this new iteration.
Love, love, love it. It is well made -- like all the other Dyson products. The controls are intuitive and easy to use although I suggest reviewing tutorial videos so you're familiar with each of the control dials (they're not labeled). The beachy waves look took me 15 minutes on my just past shoulder length hair. Dry and smooth flyaways took 8 minutes.
It'll take some trial and error to figure out how to style your hair to your preferences. That said, Dyson streamlined and removed the friction with the dual direction barrels and the Coanda smoothing dryer, making it so much easier to use.
Yes, this is a luxury tool. You can achieve similar looks with lower priced competitors. However, I really like that this set give you many options. I won't need other tools now.

I love this styler. The color is beautiful. The way it works. I thought it was going to take me long to learn how to use it but it’s very easy to understand and it works wonderful. Doesn’t take me long to dry my hair about 80% and then style it. Highly recommend, such a great product. Has everything you need❤️❤️

Pin straight fine hair girls

I feel as though the majority of women who make videos or write reviews have thicker, wavier hair already when buying this. I didn’t have either of those things.
I will say, if your hair doesn’t hold a curl like mine, you just have to put in some extra work. As far as ease of use, LOVE IT. I’ve never been able to style my hair on my own until the new Dyson airwrap. It’s not loud at all (nor does it sound like a dentist drill like I thought it would)
The extra work you have to put in… definitely put in moose and extra products to make it work. THEN after each curl you’re going to have to pin curl your hair and let it SET. The first time I did it, I let the pin curls sit in for 6 hours. My curls lasted 8 hours and became beautiful waves and my hair still had some shape by the text day. The second time I let them sit for 2 hours and they fell out relatively quickly but again, still looked like my hair was done by a stylist so I wasn’t mad at all. If you don’t mind putting in the extra work, you’ll love it.
