Very cool, compact and easy to setup. Haven't used it that much yet but seems to get the signal out there for a small handheld unit. Unfortunately it does not come with the vehicle antenna and you DO need it for in vehicle use.
Just over a year ago I received my 75-822 Portable/Mobile CB Radio. This is a unique product that provides a quick system to switch from vehicle-based to hand-held operation using CB frequencies.
The automotive configuration puts all the power and controls in the handset, requiring only a source of power and an antenna cable to be incorporated into the vehicle. This allows for one of the least intrusive designs, avoiding the need to drill unnecssary holes, run extra power cables, or allocate precious cabin space for a bulky head unit.
In the event you need to leave the radio, or even set out on a hike or walking job requiring a CB the radio can quickly detach from the automotive adapter and clip onto the battery pack.
The battery pack is a bit bitter sweet, it constitutes my least favorite part of the assembly. Overall the radio is very durable but the battery pack appears to be the weakest to retain a good size and appearance. It only accepts standard batteries and is not a rechargeable pack - the plus side is it won't degrade and become an unusable proprietary design, the down side is you must remember to change and take out the old batteries regularly.
Signal is comparable to other CBs when operating with the automotive adapter, however the handheld version is weak when inside an enclosed vehicle and is best operated outside a vehicle to avoid interference with the handheld antenna.
Overall this is a very compact, lightweight solution for anyone using CB radios. It is built well, very easy to operate, and surprisingly reliable given its form.
