Perfect “Sonic Ice” maker

This is a very expensive ice maker. BUT if you are an “ice snob” then it’s a MUST HAVE! This makes perfect “sonic style” ice all the time, every time! It keep the ice frozen then starts making more when it melts. The added side water tank makes it super-easy and convenient to keep water at the ready! It does make some noise so don’t plan on using it in a quiet room or where you relax. We run purified water in it so that seems to really help in keeping the cleaning cycles to a minimum and the ice tasting clear and fresh all the time. Our family uses flavored water bottles like Cirkul and Infuze Hydration. This machine is perfect for people and families that heavily use water bottles.

GE Opal Nugget Ice Maker is Fantastic

This Nugget ice maker is awesome! Granted, we've only had it for a few weeks, but it has worked like a charm since the first run. Takes about 2:50 hours to fill up the bin with small, Nugget ice (it's harder in consistency than Sonic's). Its motor produces a humming noise while working, but it's nothing so loud to complain about. The side tank is really helpful when you want to make a lot of ice. There are only two "Cons" for me: 1. It's heavy, so I won't be able to easily move it to clean/drain w/o my Husband's help. 2. Ice melts quickly. We batch make ice for the week, so it has to be immediately removed and put into Ziplock bags destined for the freezer after the cycle ends so as to not melt. And since it's already somewhat soft at the end of the cycle, we take the Ziplock bag out of the freezer after about 45 minutes and break the Nuggets up before they completely freeze solid. It's pricey, but due to our inconsistent, possessed, Fridge Ice Maker that starts and stops whenever it feels like it, this countertop Ice Maker has been a lifesaver. Well worth the cost of not having to go out and randomly purchase bags of ice (or a new Fridge!). The App has worked flawlessly as well. I've attached a pic for those curious about the size of the Nuggets.
