Ice melts constantly.

The power button on the front is easily hit and turns it off. The ice constantly melts because it’s not refrigerated. Since it’s always melting the lower ice is wet and waters down drinks. I mainly use it for water so it’s fine. But I wanted to for dranky dranks. It makes ice fast but if you’re filling up a larger yeti cup it doesn’t make enough for two. I do love that it’s munchable ice. It’s a lot better than the standard cheap counter top ice makers. But in my opinion it’s not worth the extra hundreds of dollars yet.

We absolutely LOVE our new Opal!! Who doesn’t love “Crunchy Ice”??? It’s the very best kind of ice!!! This ice maker has a side tank so it holds lots of water for lots of ice. It’s produces ice very quickly. Absolutely Happy, Happy, Happy!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Makes a very load noise and stopped working

I have had the ice maker about s month and it started to make s horrible sound. It us no longer making ice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are so sorry to hear that your Opal started to make a horrible sound, and is no longer producing ice. We understand the inconvenience this causes, and we are truly sorry for any disappointment and frustration this has caused.
With that being said, here are a few things you can try to correct the issue with ice production:
- Ensure that the opal has plenty of water in the reservoir.
- Check that the ice bin is pushed all the way in place.
- Try to reset the Ice Maker by unplugging the unit for 3-4 hours.
If this does not correct the issue, you will need to contact Opal Support to initiate a warranty claim. You can reach them at 1-866-907-6718, M-F 8-8 EST, or online at https://onpoint-warranty-opal.kustomer.help/contact/ge-opal-support-request-BJSXXYkKc

Like the ice

Just Got This One!

My friend has one and seems to love it. Said he had one and didn’t use distilled water and it went bad but he liked it so much he got another one. I’ve had problems with two previous under the counter ice makers from GE UPN15 models, not too impressed so giving this one a chance. Going to be using only distilled water!

Quietest Machine Yet

By far the best nugget ice maker I have tried. It is the quietest machine yet. Definitely get the optional water container. It has three light settings that make for a great nightlight. Makes ice quickly. I am so glad I spent the extra money for this machine.
