Never ending defrost

I would like to give it more than one star because I was really hoping it would work. I had the ice machine for less than three days. It did not get put together until the second day it ran for less than 12 hours before it started malfunctioning, it put itself into a defrost mode, even after being turned off for more than 24 hours all at all very sad.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The defrost cycle does happen automatically, when the unit detects it is needed, it can take around 30 to 45 minutes. Makes great ice but issues with cleaning button continuing to flash despite being cleaned and the manual lists separate cleaning and descaling cycles which don't seem to work

Constant cleaning light

Brand new and on a week, the cleaning button won't stop blinking, even after cleaning. It's apparently a known issue.
Irritating to say the leas.

We recommend ensuring you're following the full cleaning procedure, as detailed starting on page 7 of the manual; that's linked here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--ICQ21ZKI--/dc06c26a71060819d54b8d9bf6c53eb64be9dce9.pdf.

If you've gone through that full process and still see the light, we recommend disconnecting the Opal from power for three to four hours before reconnecting, to reset it.

Squeaks and squeals

Fresh out of box. After 1 tank it starts make noise like scaled up. Needs to defrost goes thru at tank and does it again. Called GE and blamed on hard water. Tried distilled waters that is GE recommends and it does the same. They have no resolution. Will be returning if continues.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unusual noises

We had an Opal from a few years ago but it died. We purchased this Opal 2.0 and it's making noises that don't sound right. Its making ice fine but it sounds like something is broken.

We want to help you with the sounds you are hearing on your Opal 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker. We recommend a software update because this model has Wi-Fi. It's also important to make sure you've done the full 55 min descale and not just the 3 min sanitize. Also unplugging it to reset the unit for a couple minutes may help. If the sounds continue, please send us a private message via Facebook, Instagram, X, along with your contact information, complete model/serial numbers, and a copy of this review.

Won't connect to Bluetooth.
