Not worth the effort

This ice machine was great for just under a year. Now I have had it for just over 2 years. It is very noisy at times, wake you up from deep sleep noisy. Requires a lot of care and cleaning to keep it working properly. Manual says Descale every 2-3 weeks, Sanitize once a week. I am doing both once a week. This is at least 4 hours of labor plus the 18 hour soak time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An Awesome Ice Machine

I really am in love with this machine....it was a matter of minutes before the ice started making. It's the nuggets ice....I use spring water in my machine and it's so tasty....I got this machine cuz I love to chew ice...it's filled again by the time I finish I glass of ice....my husband just like to put it in his drinks...its fast fill up and the light on it is great.

Noise Quiet level and great ice production and size/capacity of production. Cleaning is frequent so it should last a good while I hope. Nightlight is a nice touch too. Installation was a breeze too.

horrible noise

i am so upset with this machine. the ice itself is lovely. however, i cannot enjoy it due to the high pick shrieking that this device makes. i have tried to trouble shoot everything! no luck. this was so close to being perfect - instead, it’s a torture device!

LOVE this ice maker!!!

I love this nugget ice maker. Here's a tip if you decide to purchase one: I highly suggest using distilled water in your machine for ice and when cleaning it. I live in CA, and our tap water is awful, on top of the fact that we have really hard water.

I grew up on Route64 big drinks from Sonic in East Texas. There aren’t many Sonic’s out in the country cornfields up where I moved to help my elderly momma.
NOW I CAN HAVE THE NEXT BEST THING TO SONIC ICE!!! The GE Profile Opal Ice maker. It was easy to set up, works independently and self contained. It’s an BEST ALL-AROUND MACHINE! It’s helping make this house seem more like a home.

Great Ice Machine for Busy Household!

This machine is very impressive for it's quality and the amount of ice that it puts out! We have a large household and this icemaker manages to keep us with a steady supply of ice. The machine itself isn't that big but it produces ice very quickly and quietly. The nuggets are nice and crunchy, and last a long time in a double-walled water bottle. Installation was very easy (just be sure to follow the cleaning instructions first) and I appreciated that the water tank could be installed on either side. I actually really like the app feature--it lets me know when to tell my housemates to fill the water tank. The light also makes it feel very fancy. Sometimes the side water tank needs to be lifted in/out or the B Tube needs to be pinched a bit to let water flow into the main reservoir. I also wish there was a place to put the ice scoop on the machine (not in the drawer) but beyond that we're very happy with it.
