This thing makes ice fast, and it is good ice. I have tried other brands, but nothing compares. Has Wi-Fi, so you can schedule it to come on in the morning and before you get home from work. Keeps up with lots of people, so it is also good for parties. It is quite large so get ready for it to take up counter space, and it is heavy. The cleaning routine is not hard but you need to move it near a sink to drain it. The nose could be quieter but it is not annoying.

Great Ice, but so loud!

Love the ice, it is quick and tastes great. HATE the noise, it is so loud, consistently. She has been named Myrtle. This is our second Opal. We hoped the noise was just a bad machine, but the second one is just as bad as the first.

Due to the fact that everyone prefers the soft nugget ice; We unashamedly now have two of the Opal’s in our home kitchen… solid units two things that I am comment and or question?? Is 1) how do you install the included nylon block that I assume is a holding area/unit for the provided plastic scoop? 2) perhaps a some sort of testing strips should be included so you will know you own water quality for scaling and hardness… really ia a great machine and appreciate that the led lighting has a switch…

Poor reliability

I bought two , one reconditioned and leaked water from the bottom so I sent back. Decided to get a new one and it would ran for about 15 minutes then start squealing very loud. Sent back and gave up on getting one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought it for our place at the lake. We have used once and it produced ice quickly. It was very good nugget ice. We expect for it to be used a lot this Summer.

I’ve had the opal 2.0 setup for about 2 weeks now and I have no complaints. It’s been easy to use. It’s relatively quiet. The side tank is really nice to have too. It’s been producing ice like a champ. I love having a full tank of ice available to me 24/7.
