Not Good

It kept getting air bubbles in the line and would say clean but no matter how much you cleaned it it wouldn’t work properly. Also, if you don’t use it all the time it quickly develops mold in the lines which is a pain the butt. I expected it to be like the fridge and use as needed and flawless but it was far from that. Would not recommend

We would like to give you some information regarding cleaning and use for your Opal unit. When it comes to air bubbles, make sure the hoses are connected properly and lying flat. Lift the tank from the Ice Maker and raise it 4 to 5 inches until water starts to flow; then, place the tank back in position. Also, make sure you are using distilled water as this will reduce the need to clean the unit constantly.

Unreliable

Unreliable. 1st unit failed after 6 months. GE replaced unit under warranty, and it failed after 5 months. Both had the same issue. Stopped making ice due to “Add Water” error, even though reservoir was full and water cascading down the back.
I only used distilled water in both units, and I followed the cleaning instructions as stated in the manual.
I believe you have a design issue.
I was not willing to request another unit, even though it was still under the initial 12 month warranty period. There is little reason to believe the next one would be any different.
I scrapped it last week. An expensive lesson.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Filtered zero water. Cleaned regularly. Useless now.

There are multiple variables involved such as frequency of use, type of use, location of appliance, care, and maintenance.

This was the 2nd one I have owned. The first one lasted for a few years. I'm so glad I bought the extended warranty. The next one I got from the warranty exchange didn't last 2 months.

Wish it would have worked

This was a gift from my family. They spent a lot of money on this product and not worth it.
It is great when it worked the one time. I had issues with it not making ice from the beginning. We cleaned it multiple times thinking there was something in the filter but it did not help.
It would work for a short time and then not make ice at all. It only made a full container of ice once in the past year. Very disappointing for the cost of the product.

Be sure to give it some time off!

So...
Our journey with the ol' XPIO13SCSS had a very rough start. We set it up and it happily provided us with ice for the day. Then, seemingly in protest, it stopped. We added little Olaf and Vanilla Ice signs to give it some encouragement, but nothing would make it show up to work like the rest of us. Finally, we added some matching here/out of office signs to really make it part of the team. At that point, we also downloaded the app and hooked it up to the internet. We set a schedule just like the rest of us, it ran an update and smooth sailing. It makes ice while we're here and goes to sleep when we're not. It's much happier and drinks are much colder. So... Give it a schedule and it will be much happier, and so will you.
