GE Opal Ice Machine

We have tried 6 GE Opal ice machines and they have all quit around one year. The one we have now just quit at 7 months!! We kept trying in hopes they improved the machines but obviously that is not the case. Very frustrated and will not be buying anymore!!

Great if it works, but not worth the cost

After 10.5 months, consistent issues started—it wouldn’t produce ice, received add water errors. We have watched endless tutorials for trouble shooting, only ever used distilled water in it, and ran the clean and disinfect cycles monthly (every 3-4 weeks) as directed by the manual. Not worth the money

2x owner 2x disappointment

Downside
I’ve had 2. They need to be cleaned often. When you follow the instructions on cleaning and consistency schedule it’s very inconvenient. This is my second unit. The first broke within a year. Bought a new one and now this one too broke in 7months. Not worth the time effort or money.
Upside:
Ice was good
produced ice quickly.

No Ice :<(

So DISAPPOINTED . I recieved the opal 2 for Christmas ... I am very familiar with This brand and this style ice Maker.Because the friend that gave it to me has one and I go straight to the icemaker to get a cup of ice and water every time I go to their house. Unfortunately, the day I set mine up.I began having problems. I called for troubleshooting help.And I thought my problems were over but they weren't. My reservoir is full but the machine says add water. And it won't make ice the lady at g.E recommended that I do something to remove an air bubble which I followed her stepsaid.I thought that was the solution . Last week, I did the same thing again.I've only had the machine less than a month.And i'm so disappointed because my friend's machine works perfectly and mine sucks

New awesome. 1 year old. Broken.

I loved this unit while it was working. It worked for a year then stopped working I was very regular on the services as it details in the user manual. The features are awesome the price is great. The longevity of this unit is lacking heavily
If I’m spending this kind of money I have a higher expectation for how long it’ll last. I expect GE to do better because they are better.

Birthday Bummer

I bought one for my birthday in December 2024. I was so excited. Set it up within minutes of delivery. Perfect! The ice was great. I loved it. My family loved it. However with in a month the machine began to make the loudest sounds. Like a monster was living inside. So loud it would wakeup my teenagers sleeping in the basement. I called and had them send me another unit. Set up the new unit, and this time another problem, the water stream that feeds to the reservoir, leaks right into the main ice bin melting the ice that's there. It's awful, then last night the horrid noises began again. I honestly want to love this ice maker, but I just can't. I'm going to be sending this machine back too. It's Monday and I received the new unit on Thursday. 5 days is not good for business. Makes me sad to return it!
