Great purchase so far. Only had the ice maker 2-3 weeks but zero complaints so far. Have been filling the tank using filtered water from a refrigerator pitcher to hopefully minimize build-up. Ice is soft, crunchy and tastes great. Not noisy at all in my opinion. There is a very low hum but that's it other than when the ice drops. The app makes it very convenient. Runs every day from 9am-9pm without fail. Emptying and cleaning is annoying to have to do but it's a necessary evil and is relatively easy to do. Expensive but the wife loves it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Initial setup was fairly easy. Took some time to rinse all the bleach out. Instructions were fairly easy to follow. Light stopped working after 2 days.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If you love 'Sonic-style' ice, DO NOT HESITATE!

This little dynamo is nothing short of amazing! It's a powerhouse that starts dumping is faster than you can make the beverage to pour over it! In a short period of time, you have a full bin of ice. We transfer over to ziploc bags to keep in the freezer on the ready. It dumps a good bit of heat but odd enough, the ice in the bin stays cold even when the indoor temp is not optimal either.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We had the 1st Build Opal ice maker for over 7 years. It started being a little finicky - ice not staying frozen. Everyone loved our ice machine so we instantly started looking to replace it. We were directed to the GE Opal 2.0. Set up this morning and already have a full tray of ice!! So excited for the side tank reservoir. We anticipate not having to fill with water every day!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does not retain ice very well.

Ice maker does not retain made very well. Every couple of hours it starts up again making new ice because the retained ice has melted.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When it comes to the design of the Opal, it is designed to use the older ice on the bottom to make more ice. This means you can have a steady supply of delicious nugget ice. Also, if the unit is in a warmer area or enclosed space, this can also cause the ice to melt a bit faster.

Packaged carefully, shipped quickly, easy set up, easy to do initial clean . Had ice within 25 minutes of plugging in.
It is a hot with daughters friends. They just love the Sonic Ice .
