The opal makes a magnificent addition to our bar. It’s quieter than I thought it would be based on the reviews. Makes excellent ice and looks great as well. Highly recommended!

Especially since you'll never run out, thanks to a large capacity ice maker that makes one pound of fresh ice per hour and holds up to 48 ounces at a time!

Doesn’t like to make the good stuff

It kept saying making ice then add water and never made the ice. Troubleshot it to the point where I gave up and returned it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Finally, better tasting ice

I've wanted one of these for years. Finally ordered it and the ice is perfect. With my other tabletop Icemaker, we cleaned it weekly but the ice didn't taste like the purified water we use to make it. With this Opal machine it's right on point, so now I can make myself drink more water. Ice makes a huge difference for me :)

It appears to work great. I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks, but it works exactly as advertised. Also, I love the Wi-Fi feature. I can start and stop it from my phone. Very nice.

Overheats

It’s been a problem since day 3 of having it. I had to buy external fans to keep it cool. Im also worried about the mold I will most likely find when I open it to clean, like others have done.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If black residue is seen inside the Opal Ice Maker (including hoses and tanks), it can be caused by mineral build-up in the machine. Even with filtered water, minerals come through that will build up over time. Please refer to this link for troubleshooting steps:
