Great at making ice but….

So, this machine worked great first few days then one day it was running for a good hour and it started making noise that steadily got louder and louder. Believe it was stuck trying churn out ice not quite sure. Definitely not a good noise. Tried turning off power but that did nothing. Finally, had to unplug it. Waited a few hours and turned it on again. Took about an hour and started making the same noise again. So, long story short, called GE and returned it. They are sending me a new one. Hopefully the last one was a lemon b/c it made ice fairly quickly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My wife absolutely loves her nugget ice machine, she uses it 3-4 times per day and it has worked flawlessly so far. We both work from home so we get lots of use out of it. A perfect luxury for our house.

Best ice, but can be noisy

We have had this ice maker for a month and its great at making sufficient ice for the family. Its attractive in the kitchen and especially the black stainless which matches our other GE appliances.
Only down side is the occasional squealing noise and this despite cleaning and rinsing. The manual mentions this in the Troubleshooting section so its presumed to be part of normal operation when the machine needs to be cleaned. However, it happens on our unit despite cleaning. Beware.

I bought this product to help me increase my water intake while reducing my single use water bottle purchase. This has definitely helped as I am always guaranteed a chilled beverage no matter the type of drink. I absolutely love this and it has exceeded my expectations.
